I understand that BB's wants:
- encourage spending money in scouting

Actually, the last time this issue was raised (i.e. the last draft) I was told 'are you crazy spending money in scouts when you're having such a good record?'... so I guess you're right in saying that this point is not in a high position in BBs' to-do list, and I totally agree with you on the fact that the scouting and draft mechanisms could be much more interesting and fun, but I think that the BBs really don't care if we spend money in scouting...

that could be...and would surprise me.

Spending some money is always reasonable imho, unless all others are bot's ;) You can pick a decent "star" and develop good players too: not all must be at maximum potential! I am very proud of my medium potential players!

hello, friends!
fortunately, i spent only 10k per week, for only 3 weeks!!!
i quitted spendind money in the nasty scouts ....
and, guess what?!
this year they brought me 3 5-stars players, who have been scouted twice..lol..

conclusion: really doesn´t interest a lot investing big amounts of money in scouting....
lool........

about the same as me then ;D Can't complain. Last couple of seasons have not been so good though. I am biased to the system as it is, and that makes it good enough for me.

I am quite okay with this years draft list, but the scouting could have been much better, screenshot included.

I understand your position, but I was told quite frankly (by BB-Forest, if I remember well) that the rationale of the draft is to allow teams having a low record to improve their roster, so basically you shouldn't invest in scouts if you're having a very good season.

Moreover, information provided by scouts is sketchy (what about knowing what's the height of a player? And how come I only know the age of a player if I scout it twice?) and draftees are often so unreasonable that only an unconstrained randomness could have created them (extremely tall PGs or too short Cs), and even if they have some respectable score (players describe with 4 balls, maybe with 3 or 4 balls of potential) they simply cannot even be trained to become a backup in an Italian IV serie... fired or sold for few bucks to someone that ended up firing them in a short time. I was quite lucky in season 4, 5 and 6, but it was pure luck.

I hope your experience is far better than mine, but I don't really expect anything from the draft anymore, since I have very little control of what happens. Maybe if I'm able to pass to III serie I'll throw some money into scouting, but it's just rolling the dices...

I agree that draft should allow re-balancing in medium term, as in NBA philosophy (they don't have different series however).

Scouts look like drunk... or at least blind! At the FIRST sight I would expect them to tell me if a player is tall or not!

Hope that after GE (still to be fully understood, intriguing), economy and site (very good), draft will be improved!

Quite fantastic result, congratulations. I'm thinking of putting a lot of empty rows first as every ok player (not close to 5 balls plus 5 balls but anyway..) I have is 19yo.:(((

Edit: If I was you, I'd put player 9 third or even second in the list!!

My draft is seemingly top heavy with guards..

All of the 5* players I've scouted are guards, save for one C, and all the 4* are guards.

Out of 23 players scouted, 11 were 4* or 5* guys. My scouts did well on a cheap budget :3

I double scouted 6 people, the best being a 4*/4* PG who is at the top of my list.. And probably another one's too.

2 others were 5*, but they had 2* potential, and the other 3 were just trash. And I mixed around the unscouted ones to see if I could get lucky :'D

Quite frankly I think the scouting feature is a waste of money.

Consider this:

If I invest 40k for 9 weeks I pay 360 for 3 players or 120k per player. If I'm a good team then my draft position is low, so I realistically don't have a shot at the top 6-8 players (given that other teams' investment level is down). This means that I'm spending 120k per marginal player.

Now think of the timing of the draft. Its post playoffs, some managers are disheartened by their team's performance, teams are getting cleaned out of the system. The market becomes flooded with a high inventory of quality personnel. Basic economic theory suggest that this is the best time to buy. Supply is higher so prices are down.

So if I instead invest only 10k, I'm getting a 90k investment, and my remaining 270k can be used to purchase 1 player at MY direction, according to my desired needs.

This has been my recent strategy, and the result for the most part has been that I am with cash during the offseason and able to pick up better players.

Of course random chance would also suggest that I'm excluding my ability to obtain the "once in a lifetime" player, but I personally feel as if I have more control this way.
