I have been a big proponent of providing advanced notice when they have changes like these, so I do really appreciate the advanced notice.
I do hope they will clear up what the change is though, because there are 2 very different interpretations of what they will change. The first is that that skills that are unrelated will pop when training (ie. a SB pop when training JS), and the second is that the elastic of training is being expanded to include (some? all?) secondaries (ie. training OD will be harder if all the big man skills are at atrocious).
Most of the concerns seem to be emanating from the first interpretation, whereas after re-reading the post, I'm more in the camp of the second interpretation.

Here's the thing about that though:

So, SB gets trained up via cross training in Season 17. Those 150K PFs and Cs go up to 200K on the salary calculators. Everyone freaks out. Then the post season processing goes through, player salaries are balanced against income averages and in S18 instead of a 6% drop like this year, those bigs get hit with a 20% drop so that teams can actually still afford the players on their roster.

I honestly think that's a win-win all the way around. Players get better and more well rounded league wide and teams don't pay an appreciable amount more.

You forget there potentials existing in hte game. So many would get some unwanted pops instead something more useful (or whatever their owners prefer) with no chance to get that pops later.

I think that elastic effect will not slow down if there are low unrelated skills. It just train them weakly too (if there is elastic ON), I suppose.

Im also looking forward to see these changes. However I dont expect any further explanations, because there arent much about cross-training itself in the rules etc.

So we have to wait now 3 months.

anyway, I think it's go0d even if negligible.
imagine in real basketball you have a player with legendary Def(either perimeter or post) but atrocious handling!!! or legendary Handling but atrocious passing or rebounding!!! you see it's not possible. basketball skills are not apart, also there is something called Fundamentals which you should learn before you reach high levels in any skill.

I hope we see its effects more than what we talked about here, because it's about basketball not robots!

But this thread is about "Cross Training" and we have no complaints about this change. That's great this change is announced one season in advance. That's the right way how to make any changes.
Just as there are different interpretations of the BB-charles statement it would be great if he clear it up as soon as possible so that everyone could do his best to be prepared well at start of season 17.

So, stop being ridiculous and stop being off-topic.

You mixed first and second interpretation together.

I think purpose of this change is to make cross-training little bit more effective (and easier as it would take little bit less time than before the change). But e.g. pops of REB during outside training it would make cross training even more difficult (due to salaries increase if you train outside skills for bigmen), so I hope interpretation of no additional pops and just boost of speed is right one.

And about thought that it would cause training on high level slower. It could be like this or couldn't depends on implementation if influence of unrelated skills is always positive or minimum boost should be 0. But I expect more likely negative effect on higher levels because without negative levels would be increase total global value of the training, but I'm not sure if that's what BB-staff follows.
