Specialty outside builds have not been exploited yet. Teams are working on this now so soon we will begin to see outside based teams with specialty big men, ala specialty guards for look inside. We know that while not many teams are doing it, one of, if not the, best team in the USA is an outside team. Give them some specialty bigs and they're certainly the best team in the league.

So now we're going to have some specialty bigs, maybe SF's too, coming through and should provide balance for outside teams. At the same time SB is also going to be increased. I fully expect this change to tip the balance back towards outside teams. If i wasn't dedicated to training and holding some salaries for the NT I'd be immediately selling everyone and starting on outside based team.

We need PL testing for testing to work though...scrimmages are HORRIBLE for testing...we only use scrubs and trainees out of position...body can set scrimmage lineup for testing specifically...its GS and training day.

I thought they were going to roll them out in private leagues? maybe im not recalling it correctly.

anyway, this is a chance to provide more incentive for teams to pay and support the game. maybe get some help for marin?

It's not too late for a change of plans, so I hope they consider putting the new GE in for private leagues next season for the whole season and then move it over to the full game the season after that if testing proves effective in achieving the goals.

That would be a huge incentive to get Supporter by next season to have all that testing time to work with your team.

If it does shift balance and doesn't have sufficient valuable testing, then it will be disruptive and send customers away.

So the choice is between a patient approach that can earn money or a rush that could cost money? Seems easy to me.

depending on the starting skillset i dont see why a specialty big needs lots of time at PG. PA trains fast, JS is can be trained from SF (wingmen, cause you dont want an IS). 1on1 and JR would be nice to have but not a requirement.

great ID/Reb and good PA/SB with low IS and you're on your way to a big that's similar to some of the OD/PA only guards.

its possible that it takes more time, but the market should reflect that value if the player is effective. of course, great LI guards take more time, as would great outside bigs.

edit - this might be a good conversation for another topic, which may or may not already exist.

LI guards dont have to have inside skills. Same for outside bigs. It's definitely better if they have some off skills, but the key here is focus on only necessary skills and keep the unnecessary ones as low as possible for salary purposes.

LI guards need OD and PA. Outside bigs need ID/Reb. to keep the salaries low, which can be used for the primary scoring players (bigs for inside, guards for outside), you aim to keep expensive skills as low as possible. for guards, JS and JR, for bigs, IS.

Thats the core to those types of builds. LI guards have been focused on. Not so much for outside bigs.

Take silverbacks in my league, provide him with a couple bigs like this (125k salary, roughly):

12 7
7 7
7 10
8 18
19 12

..and the rest of us are all entirely f'd even before a boost in SB.
