I agree with what you just said, that's the unfortunate part.

We all play by the same rules, but from a game enjoyment point of view, the rules currently suck. There needs to be serious changes, otherwise every season ends the same - whoever has the most money wins (unless they decide not to spend it).

I can't for the life of me understand how the BBs can't see what is an obvious problem and actually do more to address it, other than a couple of minor changes.

I believe that the hit to gameshape when buying players next season will reduce the amount of rentals and undoubtedly see a lot of theses beasts "retire" from the game.

Buying in beasts has enormous risks and could see my team financially crippled.

One of the biggest "learnings" I had in this game was when I accepted that the game is a management game and not just a coaching strategies game.

Cashflow, attendances etc all matter and the best way to have cash to invest at the business end of a season is to have some really good cost effective players in your team that can allow your team to be competitive and save money at the same time.

I am within the current rules that allows me to buy in these rentals but I also support the impending rule changes that will make such tactics less attractive.

Sustainable is an interesting word, yes Team Akuma has been able to support a high price roster all season and credit to him for doing so, but he has been running at a loss for most of the season so is his roster really sustainable?.

I hope they make the game shape hit massive and not minor when they make the change next season. In the ABBL every top team has bought up. If the change means you drop from strong game shape to slightly lower strong game shape then the change will be a total fail. If the change is you drop from strong to mediocre then the end of season rental fiasco will be over forever; thank goodness.

On the other topic there is nothing surprising about people bidding on players. There is also nothing amazing about people bidding on their friend's players. I know the XBB crew all play ball together can't you imagine something like this.

"In your face buddy that is 19-16, two points till we whip you just like I am whipping you in Buzzerbeater."

"Man my team is awesome but I really need a PG."

"I have a backup PG who is really solid and I don't really need him. He has X, Y and Z stats."

"How much do you want? Thanks buddy if you list him tonight I will have the cash after my game Tuesday."

Seems perfectly fine and fair to me.

I don't really understand why they've gone with a hit to gameshape when there's other things that could be done to eliminate the problem completely, e.g. minimum eight week contracts, or playoff rosters set at the ASG.

Hits to gameshape will penalise guys that buy players during the year for legitimate reasons as well, so I really don't understand why this is the 'solution' that has been implemented to combat the rent a beast strategy?

Imagine how many div 3 and 4 Noobs would go bankrupt when they buy a player not understanding that they cant afford the salary of .

maybe initially, but just because they go bankrupt, doesnt mean they can't start another team. and being a noob means they lose nothing.

I think yer initially you would have a hit on new users, but in the end, if it was made clear to a user that - say as an example approaching the all-star deadline

"The Deadline for players in the playoff is ALl-star game - By buying this player you may have trouble selling him after the all-star game, which may put your team at financial jeapordy"

ok so badly worded i know - but you get the point.

In saygin all that, i think BB have been wise in ALL changes that they have made to the game, in that they need to do things gradually - sudden drastic changes would just alienate so many users, both new and old and consistent gradual changes are the best policy.

So yer... GS change this year - see how it works - if no impact, then maybe push out the playoff deadline by a week - see what happens. if nothing - push it out another week, until a happy medium is found.

That's not a good enough reason to do nothing. New players will learn (and should read the rules) and like the great Coach said, there's nothing stopping them from starting again if they do go bankrupt.

A simple warning on the transfer/player sale page would be sufficient anyway.
