Man, the Magic kicked my Goats ass tonight. I'm thinking about changing my team name from Goats to Boats .... since apparently we're not the G.O.A.T's that we thought we were but rather the Baddest of All Time ... if by Baddest we mean Worstestests.

Well that was quite a game Crazys, not sure how you beat me, must have been that extra enthusiasm from your cup draws.

I am not sure I know how I beat you either..................but I will take the W. Not sure it was all cup draw enthusiasm but I will say the draws have been easy thus far. If we were playing at your place the score would have been reversed. I think that was just a home team win. I didn't expect it but will take it.

Match day #11 8/7/10

Chicago Goats @ Marietta Magic. This wasn’t the battle that fans had expected from this highly anticipated match. Ryan and Mannu had their way with Partridge and Candia down low from the start and embarrassed the Goats. The score after the first quarter was Magic 27 Goats 4, and it only got a little better for Goats at the end. Magic 94-60. Mannu was interviewed after the game and said, “We know who the real deal down low is now. The Magic can not be stopped!”

No Potential @ E.C. High-Flyers. The Flyers were too much to handle for No Potential, especially captain Leo Woods who led his team to an easy win. Flyers 106-56. Woods commented after the game, but didn’t say much more than “It was a good win, but it’s always about the next one, we are focused on Bangerz for Tuesday.”

Roxas City Red Claws @ San Diego Crusaders. The Crusaders were without their distributer Gassol, but it didn’t matter against the forfeiting Claws. Crusaders 106-69.

Armageddons @ Tachenko. The fans who attended the Goats-Magic matchup wished they had come to this one instead, because this was the type of game they wanted to see. It was close throughout and a true nail-biter in OT. Corsetti took the lead for Tachenko with 20 seconds left, then Oconnell missed a hook and Armageddons quickly fouled Quick who missed 2 freethrows. Then Wermitz had 6 seconds to attempt heroics, but missed the mark, Tachenko 104-102.

The Illusion @ Cleveland Crazys. This was another game for the home fans who were really on edge remembering the last time these two teams went into OT. (That game went into 5OT and the home side Illusion won) This time ended after just one OT though and the home side exploded in relief and joy when the final seconds ticked down. Crazys 93-88. The Crazys came from behind in the 4th quarter to get to OT. The Illusion coach was not happy after the game to put it kindly.

1Derz Bangerz @ Champaign. A good start for the Bangerz didn’t last, and Champaign claimed the rest of the game their own. Champaign 106-97. The Champaign backcourt shot well despite going against the 3-2 zone of the Bangerz. Point guard Eler said after the game, “I love hold balls in hand and go up”. His English still needs some work but he meant that he loves to handle to ball on offense, dribbling up the court, as any good pg should.

Prov City Investors @ TDX Dutchmen. This looked to be another promising matchup, but the Dutchmen took control. Donny Hutson and his backcourt shut down Carmona and the entire PCI offense, allowing Dutchmen to waltz into an 85-68 victory. PCI and the rest of the Great 8 seem to be stuck in a rut against the tough Big 8 side.

Indiana Gavno @ Red Terrors. Same old, same old with Gavno and Terrors took advantage. Terrors 101-89.

Nightly Notable

Donny Hutson of the TDX Dutchmen. His defensive efforts against the perilous Gael Carmona made him stand out. He kept him to 15 pts on 5-17 shooting and just 1 three. This is the first time a player has been awarded the Nightly Notable for their defensive efforts.

nice to hear from you steppers, Barr and Carmona are lonely without Mina

He's healthy again and dropping 30 pts a game in lowly D IV. On the bright side, I'm undefeated and will be heading back here to see you fine folks soon enough!

(yes, I'm still holding out hope that I find my way back to III.4)

Nice, glad to hear Mina is back in action. We could really use some help on the Great 8 side we are getting demolished in interleague play this season.

Match day #12 8/10/10

E.C. High-Flyers @ 1Derz Bangerz. The Flyers wanted to win more on this night and it showed. Bangerz took it easy to get ready for a very tough cup draw on Thursday. The 2-3 zone of the Flyers was very effective against the inside game of the Bangerz and it resulted in an easy win for the hot handed Stefanini and his boys. Flyers 91-73. Despite the easy win, Flyers’ coach was not happy with the amount of turnovers his team allowed.

Red Terrors @ The Illusion. The Illusion took it easy and despite conceding the most points they have all season, it was an easy win. Illusion 117-101. The Terrors showed that they can get the ball in the basket, but need work on the defensive end. Statovci commented after the game on his near perfect shooting night, “I was really feeling it tonight, I even knocked down 2 threes. My coach was not happy with me shooting from that range, but hey he couldn’t say anything after they went in.”

Tachenko @ Chicago Goats. Tachenko couldn’t give the match their all while trying to manage minutes, and in the midst of multiple injuries. Goats on the other hand took advantage of the fact that they are expected to play inside and instead went for a run and gun tactic. It was an easy win for them against the 2-3 zone of Tachenko, but Goats still didn’t shoot well from beyond the arc. Goats 94-78.

Marietta Magic @ No Potential. Magic were able to take it easy and manage minutes and still have no problem with No Potential. Magic 109-79. Sean Ryan and Mario Mannu were talking about the all-star game after the game and are getting pumped to see if they will be the ones to represent the inside game of the Big 8.

Champaign @ Indiana Gavno. Gavno is starting to look more like a team, but they took this match easy and it gave Champaign an easy win, 90-75. Gavno will have to address their ball handling if they want to be more effective because Champaign was able to force 19 on them. Champaigns primary scoring options were really highlighted this game with 3 of their players scoring 72 of their 90 points.

Cleveland Crazys @ Roxas City Red Claws. Claws still forfeiting gives Crazys a 116-48 victory.

San Diego Crusaders @ Prov City Investors. The Crusaders didn’t stand a chance especially without their offensive leader Gassol gone and no replacement in sight. Investors 121-65. Carmona went off for 35 points this night and it surprised no one. An interviewer asked him about where he thinks his team is at as we are coming close to the all-star break and he commented, “We are definitely trying to get better, but right now we are ok sitting in 3rd place. Our record is sub par, we would like to at least be .500 but as long as we don’t start dropping in the Great 8 standings we will consider where we are good for now.”

TDX Dutchmen @ Armageddons. The Geddons tried to switch things up with a motion offense, but they didn’t have the fire power to match Donny Hutson and his backcourt. Dutchmen 81-77. Both teams actually shot almost the exact same fg%, but the Dutchmen were able to get to the free-throw line more often. The key player this game was sf Aydin who was all over the place getting 12 boards and leading the Dutch with 19 points.

Nightly Notable

Lowell Webber of the Chicago Goats. He picked up 6 boards, dished out 4 assists and scored 25 points, but the real reason he stood out was his timeliness of scoring. Whenever the Goats needed a basket he was there to knock it down and cover the asses of a struggling backcourt.
