I planned on being competitive but not a championship team in my first season. I am pretty much right where I expected to be, but am a little surprised there aren't more teams ahead of me.

I went 2-6 against the other division but feel like 2 of those games could have swung either way.

That might be a pretty decent way to gauge things.

Vs. Great 8:
ChiTown 6-2
Machines 6-2
SlipNslidE 4-4
Jests 2-6
Postal 2-6
Bass 2-6
PSP 1-7
Vipers 0-8 (but botified, so kinda irrelevant)

Vs. Big 8:
Hobos 7-1
Quakers 6-2
PBS 6-2
Koalas 6-2
RiverDogs 6-2
REO 4-4
Shock 5-3
sphinx 1-7

This is rather inconclusive, however, when you take into consideration that a fair number of us were still in the Cup during most of this time, and there were league matches thrown to make up for rough Cup draws. Also, everyone in the Great 8 got a free win against Vipers, who accounted for the only win by sphinx (who also has gone 2 weeks without logging in, and basically has given away 3-5 free wins to the Big 8 during that span).

In addition, there's home/away to factor into things, and I really can't be bothered to go through all the games and tally up who played where and whether they won or lost. I'm guessing it's an even 4-4 split between home and away, but as I said I haven't checked, and sometimes the schedule is screwey with that type of stuff.

More Big 8 teams lasted further in the Cup than Great 8 teams. Was that based on strength of schedule, depth of team, or just random dumb luck?

Looking based on salary, (at my last tally, can't promise this is 100% up to date) there were 6 teams whose top 12 players averaged over $20K per player. 4 were Great 8 teams. There were 4 teams with salaries below $15K. One was sphinx who had by far the lowest and the other 3 were Big 8 teams.

Seems the simple answer is, in general, we don't have the horses to compete pound for pound.

Okay, four games left, and the playoff picture is looking interesting. 6 teams still eligible on the Great 8 side of things, 5 still eligible on the Big 8 side.

Any predictions?

Gee, DK, I wouldn't hazard a guess. Many of us did notice, however, that you just acquired quite a stud, a former USA NT player if I'm not mistaken. The remainder of the season—and the playoffs—should indeed be interesting!

I probably overspent for him, too, and already flubbed minutes by sticking him in the game on Saturday (he already had 20-odd minutes in a game earlier that day). There's a bit of sentimental value in Carmichael, though, as he was an opponent of my kid brother's team for several seasons in III.8.

The Big 8 playoff picture might be pretty clear after tomorrow's games, as a loss by Postal and a win by SNS would secure the top 4 over here. The Great 8, on the other hand, might go down to the wire.

Unfortunately Coleman is out for rest of the season (basically) and Gispert is gone for 2 games... so I'm taking my team out of the playoff race and hoping that I can cling to 5th. I'd rather lose the training games then risk regulation again, so 5th is my aim at this point.

Reminds me of the Eat more Chikin commercial that I just saw, except it should go:

Stop huten mai plaurz plez.

3 guys in 3 successive games, wonder who is next? ^_^

Editted saw for say

Just out of curiosity, what level doctor do you have?

An overpaid Lvl 3. I was about to replace him with a Lvl 2 because I rarely had problems with injuries.. I probably had 1 a season before this season. I really wonder if a lvl 4 would have eliminated the 2 1 week injuries I had, but that's something that is almost impossible to figure out.

I have the same level doctor, and have now suffered 2 1-week injuries and 1 2-week injury. I'm beginning to wonder if an upgrade isn't a good idea.

Thanks to being out of town lately, setting a default lineup would probably be a decent idea as well

I'm sure most people are pretty glad to be seeing Hobo's promote out of the league lol, unless ChiTown pulls a miracle upset in the finals.
