How effective your tactics will be will also depend on what type of team you have. Running a fast-paced tactic when you have players that have low stamina might come back and haunt you in the end and when players get tired they will start to miss shots and turn the ball over more often than not. However, running a slow-paced offense when you don't have good passers or ball handlers will also allow the defense to settle and force your team to take bad shots. It's up to you to select an offense that fits your squad.
Take Lolo's suggestion about the Princeton offense, he basically summed up what most of us want to say about that type of offense, including the scoring drought which is also common but manageable. I hope that helps. (y)
