OK, I'll post my thoughts

Lewisham Wombats v Da Fat Boy Slim

Given DFBS has just CTed, I'd be disappointed if I didn't come away with the chocolates here. I'll back myself by 21. The likely Manfrotto v Duffil matchup shapes as the crucial one here.

Black Label Society v Baxter Bogans

Probably the playoff game of the round. I think Baxter probably have the better team, with Dire selling off a couple of players, and perhaps the enthusiasm advantage. But HCA is big. Lopins and Malevani will have their hands full trying to handle the BLS backcourt. But with Chemlar being the BLS 2nd best big, the likes of Castaldo should have their way inside. Baxter by 7.

Koop v Whitebeard
After Radford, Gusic and McNamara go down with season ending injuries in the first 5 minutes, Whitebeard will take this out by 10.

WA v BHB

Who has tanked better? Probably WA. BHB by 12.

Pancakes v Aussie

This will probably be a tighter series than the Pancakes would have liked. Alot depends on Sacchi, who I'll back the Pancake's guards to shut down in game 1. Pancakes by 11.

Bell Park v Slam

Interesting matchup. HCA will be big here. Slam's bigs are huge, but their guards are a little weaker, and any injuries or foul outs and they are stuffed. I'll back Bell Park by 5 in game 1.

Those players will be rested against WB to save them from injury. We all saw what happened in the first games of the NBA playoffs.

You just wrecked my entire weekend. Ok, maybe not you but now that is game over man, game over. The Bulls should have chosen "strictly follow depth chart" not "let coach decide".

Yeah I was absolutely gutted too when I saw him go down like that. Even though I don't follow the Bulls, DRose was up there in my list of most fav. players.

The sad thing is that he may never recover to be the MVP he deserves to be again. Hopefully he returns to show us more of this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_wpkZG8zjE&feature=fv...

Highly likely he will never be the same again. Great article by Mike Wilbon on ESPN.com about the effects of the shortened crammed season and also how much strain he puts on his lower joints through the way he plays.

Bad as the market has been I still thought given the time of season that I might of got a bit more coin for Sahin and possibly just a tad more for Pedrosa.

Aim for this coming ABBL season is to exit it with 10 mill in the bank

Wow, was this the upset of the season?

The mighty CCat at home and with equal enthusiam loses to Aussie Prides in the first relegation final.

Can CCat bounce back on Aussie Prides home court and if not will they have the motivation to be able to rebound back to the ABBL after a season or two in Div 2?

Ok, I'm bored tonight, so...

Round 1 playoff wrap:

Despite an early injury to Yalduz, the Wombats comfortably accounted for Da Fat Boy Slim, on the back of a stellar game by Kremer (37 points), and a triple double to Goodall (14-11-12). DFBS offense function reasonably well, with Duffil and Waterhouse having good games, but tehy were terrible defensively, and got smashed on the boards.

Despite an efficient game from McArthur, Baxter just edged out the Society, to make it the first time in a billion seasons that BLS hasn't made the semis (or thereabouts). The Baxter bigs were just to much, dominating offensively and on the boards.

Koopasaurus played all over Whitebeard, no real shock there. Gusic, Arcuato and Radford the key players.

Despite the best efforts of Andreacci, WA got over the line in the fight to get beaten by Koopasaurus in the semis. The WA bigs were the difference, probably in large part due to BHB playing a 30K SG at centre.

In the relegation series, Aussie pinched a game that most woud have predicted Pancakes to win, and now look in good shape to survive the drop. Marin and Sacchi were the key players, while for the Pancakes, the turnovers in the end proved the killer.

And Bell Park got over Slam comfortably in the end, but not without a scare. Slam was doing it confortably, before an injury and a foul out required someone from the stands to play out the game. Bell Park will probably need similar luck in game 3 to get over the line - but that's the way it goes when you only have 6 players. And with Raineri out for a week, Slam is skating on further thin ice.

Players of the round:
Shachaf Kremer (WOM) 37pts, 11 boards: With Yalduz going down early, and Manfrotto in foul trouble, Kremer stepped it up for probably the best game of his career.

Shaun McArthur (BLS) 38pts, (15-27): Despite being in a losing cause, this game wouldn't have even been close if it wasn't for McArthur's efforts

Stephano Arcuato (Koop) 20 points, 10 boards: The former U21 rep showed his much more highly paid teammates how its done in limited court time.

Duds of the round:

Gerd Zero (PJC) 3-14 shooting, 4TOs: Zero had a stinker, shooting poorly, turning it over, and letting Sacchi off the leash. Will need to bounce back in game two for the Pancakes to win.

Charlie Steeler (BLS) 43 minutes, 0 points, 3TOs: Steeler contributed little on offense or defense against the Bogans - though he gets paid bugger all, so he is probably forgiven.

Birol Yalduz (WOM): For being an injury prone git.

Round 2:
Wombats over Baxter by 8
Koop over WA by 54
Slam over Bell Park by 21
Aussie of Pancakes by 5
