I cannot save everyone.

Unless U21 has a realistic chance of succeeding this season (I'm only assuming it doesn't), you should consider prioritizing saving players over maximizing wins if the possibility arises. I'd rather save guys like Fortin, Saad Hassan, Schmiedehaus, Rosenthal if they go bot than to try to win any meaningless late season games.

No need to do that. I can use 3 more spots for saving (1 already is on the team). So additional 2-3 are only needed.

Senior NT is way more interesting to me, with way more deserving players as call-ups. If it was my call, 100% of players would be saved by U21.

The most important thing is saving all quality MVP+ I guess. Can't be too critical as long as we save players when need be.

Well, do you not agree that a 150k HOF player is more deserving to make NT than an 8k allstar making U21?

I'm still wondering why our NT standards have increased so much. Chacon, Ferguson, Arsenault, Lachance were on last season's team and none have decreased skills. Hackett and Main are equal to Arsenault and better than Lachance. There are about 5 guards in training who can be equal to last season's Kearns and Stavridis later on. Kearns and Stavridis themselves are fighting off Father Time and are still quality (though I admit these 2 are worth waiting on). There are multiple SF who can be equal to Gaudreault later on. Kearin could be our 3rd best big later in the season. Nixon, if he's still training, would absolutely be deserving.

We just compared fine against #1 ranked USA on their home court. Our ratings at full strength will probably be top 3-5 in the world.

1. We are nowhere near the top 3. It was proven in last world cup in games against Finland and Hong Kong (and we had max enth).
2. Until game with Uruguay, we really dont need more or better players. In my mind its better to wait and see whether there are some injuries, etc. rather than burn spots right now, especially with needing to save some players.

Just playing a bit of a waiting game right now and seeing how things develop. Last season we had to be 100% ready from first competative game.

But I think your argument (or anyone's really) is why should 3 of the saves be done at the NT level, when it's obviously fielding a more competitive team than our U21 and those spots should be at more of a premium. This season, our NT should compete for one of the spots in the World Championships, and having the extra spots to replace the aging and injured would help.

I agree with you, but we can still field only 12 players. For than 14-15 roster spots is enough since I wont be calling people up until Uruguay game to make sure they dont get injured during preliminary phase. Unless U21 loses next 2 games (in which case they wont have anything to fight for this season), there is no need to completely handicap the team.

I will do my best to get into the semis and there fight for World Cup spot, its just making rushed moves and calling up people now would be unnecessary risk (injuries, skill drops) and I believe that since we are not taking that, we should be able to preserve 2-3 spots for saving players without handicapping the team in any way

We used less effort and lost by 7 against Hong Kong. We also used a dreadful offence (21 missed threes). We were also without Hall and Hudgins due to awful gameshape. Combine the horrendous offence we used with the personnel we were without (2 of our only 3 inside iso players) and that's proof that we were better than Hong Kong. We stood a 100% chance of winning with an inside offence. Even if we didn't nail both GDP, I think we were better than them.

Against Finland we didn't have Hall at all and had overall much worse GS (Hudgins, etc). With Hall at SF, Stronks at guard, and Hudgins splitting time at both positions, that changes things. Um, also, their listed guards scored 54 points in 83 minutes. There's no way that's reasonable. Stronks never scores like that -- and if he did, he and Hudgins would be an unstoppable tandem at PG and SG in their own right.

France, we throw that game out the window. They hit GDP and used more effort, we missed GDP. We had no Hall or Hudgins. I think France was the worst team in the group.

We only won by 13 against Czech Republic. It wasn't that small a margin for any reason other than luck. They scored better than they should've against our insane defence. Not a good game to dissect.
