Whenever someone wants help and shows us skills of his trainee, it would be good if that person could tell us what would that player become. Like...

[skills]

I want this player to be [Dirk Nowitzki], [Best SF in BB], [Pass-first PG], [shooting guard]...without this information, we can't help as much as we could.

i would check with your NT managerto see whether he could make the team one day with the right training. Bear in mind though that NT big players may end up having salaries around 200k + by the time they are ready and this might not fit your teams financials by that point in the future. (although this would be many seasons down the line - plenty of time to maximise your arena seating and get promoted!)

some others have covered that you can focus on his big skills from day 1 and end up with a regular looking PF/C (with no passing) after a few seasons, or focus on his guard skills while he is young and they are relatively quick to increase, then train big skills and end up with a great PF/C which will last you 10 seasons+.

The last poster suggests a compromise between the two which i think is a great way of looking at it as well.

If you want to maximise his transfer value because you want to make the most profit, then this is a different way of looking at it.
It might mean you are better off selling right away (18 year olds with high potential go for great money even compared to well trained 19 and 20 year olds).

If you are going to train his guard skills for a season or two id recommend getting a couple of guard trainees to train at the same time. That way you can train him at guard in the cup games and the other guards in your league games and still be competitive.
when you switch to the big skills in 2 seasons either keep doing the guards if they need it or sell them and get some more bigs for trainees

hope this helps!

HI,

I would like some help.

Recently after reading more into the game (I wasn't so serious in my first season last season, bit clueless) I decided to pick up a few people to train because I think I will get relegated. I saw a 19 year old Hall of Famer and bought him for 500k. I was happy until I read that secondaries are important for big men as well.

Is this guy hopeless? I can't afford a trainer higher than 4.

Ya, you overpaid huge for this guy.

You can train JS JR OD HA DR up a bit, maybe to 4 each. That will keep is price down before hitting the big man skills. It will take some time with that height.

He'll never be a PF with those secondaries but he can still be a useful C.

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.
