If you read up on the salary cap fines, they are absolutely INSANE. I think the lakers are going to have to pay something like $85 million in taxes in 2014 for a roster worth around $100 million. Certainly not something to sneeze at. This would make managers think twice before splurging on a huge roster of monsters.
I mean it's not a perfect solution, and matt you're probably right it would be overkill to implement all of it if the aim was purely to stop rentals. But I'm thinking of the bigger picture. I'm thinking of transitioning this game towards an even more realistic model representing some of the more interesting aspects of the NBA's CBA like luxury taxes, soft caps, etc which every NBA GM needs to think about.
