Magandang araw mga kapatid,

Bukas na ang ating first game sa Asian tournament. As of now, nakapili na ako ng line-up para sa team at proud akong iintoduce sila sa inyo.
Ito ang 11 players na nakapasok sa U21 team.

Point Guards

Usurpio Manuel ((18303857))

Strengths : The best defending point guard in the roster. Gets tons of steals. Won't give his man space due to his tight defense. Good in taking care of the ball.
Weaknesses: Needs to work his passing skills because it is average for his position. Needs to work in his jump shot.

This player is best fit for inside offenses since he lacks shooting but if trained well, he also can shoot with that offense due to his "ok" inside skills.

Mark Anthony Lintag ((18306045))

Strengths : An all around point guard who can pass, shoot, drive, post, rebound and defend in any position.
Weaknesses: Terrible at the line. He has no other weaknesses for his position except he needs some work defensively.

If trained well during the course of the season, this guy can be an offensive threat anywhere in the court. But his passing and defense needs some work. Above all, his manager promised good game shape.

Shooting Guards:

Edward Evangelista ((18305340))

Strengths : Streaky shooter. Above average shooting skills. Can defend in any position.
Weaknesses: Can't create shots well. Just like Lintag, his Free throw skills needs improvement.

The manager gave me a training scheme for his player which i also agreed. He is not the best player in his own team and this is an advantage for us since the manager controls his minutes for better game shape.

Nicholas Robleza ((18303419))

Strengths : The best shooter in the lineup. Good passing skills for a SG. Can rebound, drive and create shot. Defense is unquestionable. Enemies surely don't want to foul him due to his good FT skill.
Weaknesses: Bad stamina and game shape will suffer during the season.

As I said, his game shape would be a problem but I asked the manager to control his minutes.

Roummel Violanda ((18304028))

Strengths : Same skill set with Lintag. Incredible outside shooter and an excellent court vision.
Weaknesses: Nothing in particular but he needs improvement in his defense.

As you can see, we have only 5 guards in our team. Since the 1st game is quite easy, I'm monitoring other Guards who can make the cut.

Eleno Montejo ((18303363)) - Not likely the ideal guard for the team. His potential is limiting his improvement. needs to work on his defense.

Benson Orat ((18303466)) - Excellent catch and shoot player. Need more defense and handling.

Andrew Zacharias Parilla ((18304089)) - Multiskilled offensive player but with terrible defense. If the manager focuses defense, he will called up during the mid season.

Hipolito Satosa ((18306506)) - Ok, the most exciting player in my list. Why? He has no skill below average but his guard skills now lacks a little bit. I hope he will be properly trained.

Jun Wesley Sorongon ((18304879)) - Don't underestimate him because of his low salary. I'm eyeing this one. More passing and defense.

Oliver Velasco ((18306091)) - The best shooter in the waiting list.

Big men:

Ladislao Gayomali ((18303778))

Strengths : Balanced big man skills. Decent driving for a big man. Good low post scorer.
Weaknesses: Passing would be a problem for him. Can't take care the ball well.

Gayomali has the 2nd highest salary in the roster but that doesn't mean he's one of the best. I proposed a training plan for him and I hope the manager will follow it.

Dexter Caleb Zulueta ((18303824))

Strengths : Like Gayomali, he is also a balanced big man. Other strengths are he is OK in passing and also have a good FT shooting percentage.
Weaknesses: Like most centers, creating his own shots would be a problem. He only relies on the passing skills of PG to get good shots.

Game shape is his key. I can say he is the best Center when we include his free throw.

Brian Riley Otubusin ((18304063))

Strengths : The last big man that I recruited. The best rebounder in the lineup.
Weaknesses: Ok, not a good Inside scorer.

I chose him not only he can get rebounds at any angle but his manager promised game shape not below strong and he will also train his inside shooting.

Ash Julius Mones ((18304217))

Strengths : The player with the highest salary in the roster. He can play the PF position because his jump shot is good. Incredible shot blocker and passer. Average outside defender too.
Weaknesses: His free throw sucks.

As expected, he is the best center available now. One great thing about him is that the manager told me that I don't have to worry because he is still training him.

Gener Juan Umadhay ((18304749))

Strengths : The multiskilled center in the roster. Can shoot anywhere in his position. Can pass and drive.
Weaknesses: Defense needs improvement. He will be on starting lineup if his defense is good.

Edward Sales ((18305303))

Strengths : Typical low salaried center that a manager wants to be in his team. Can score and rebound
Weaknesses: Same as Umadhay, he lacks defense.

6 players for the Big men position is ok for now. But i have 5 potential Big men in the waiting lists.

Marion Benedicto ((18306349)) - The power forward with and incredible potential. A couple more pops in his big skills, he'll be here.

Valentine Braga ((18306213)) - He improved his IS and ID skills just now. But i didn't get him because he was currently on TL and maybe the new manager won't train him.

Joven de la Cruz ((18304079)) - Another "kapos" center. Need to monitor his improvement.

Mike Rafael Echegorin ((18306682)) - A good potential for future call ups if trained well.

Alex III Samonte ((18306679)) - Just like Benedicto but this guy has hall of famer potential. I'm eyeing this one.

As you can see, i have only 11 players in my roster right now. I was planning to recruit 13 players but their skills are so close that it's hard to choose. The remaining slots for the team are for the future and emergency callups and saving good potential retiring rookies.

I hope we will have a successful campaign! Mabuhay Pilipinas!

Our opponent for tomorrow is Lubnan(Lebanon). Considered as one of the basketball power houses in Asia, at least in real basketball. But here in Buzzerbeater, they are just starting to develop. So expect a win here. :)

New season new hope. After suffering first game first quarter jitters, the newly formed Pilipinas U21 team gave newly minted U21 manager PH-Cezzz a very arousing welcome by trashing the U21 Lebanon team by 30 points with the final score of 95-65.

After trailing for most of the first quarter and starting to lose hope, a last second half court heave by Nicholas Robleza resulted in a foul by the Lebanese defender and Robleza took advantage of the mana from heaven and made all three shots to get the Pilipinas team to within one point at the end of the first quarter.

When the second quarter came, it was a different atmosphere as an energized and inspired U21 team lead by 7-1 center Ash Julius Mones made life a living hell for the Lebanese as they limited the Lebanese squad to only 8 points while scoring 18 points to break the game wide open. The third quarter was the same as the Pilipinas squad clamped down on defense and stretch the lead to even more to 21 points. The fourth quarter was garbage time as the Pilipinas squad first 5 sat down for the rest of the quarter and it was the bench who finished the game.

Julius Ash Mones of da Iron Curtain from Pilipinas League 2.1 was the top performer of this game with 14 points and 16 rebounds respectively while adding 2 blocks one steal and one assist. Coach PH-Cezzz was very proud of Mones as the defense had a hard time guarding him but even he had to admit Mones had a bad night at the free throw line making only 2-12 shots. "Hopefully he can shot better FTs the next game" Coach PH-Cezzz said sheepishly.

Brian Riley Obutusin of Nueva Ecija Cardinals from PPL also had a brilliant game scoring 14 points of 6-7 shooting and hauling down 6 boards. When interviewed by the press this is what he had to say. "Hopefully Coach PH-Cezzz will reconsider his decision making me a substitute in our next game as my play speaks for itself. I deserve to be first five."

Another brilliant performer of this game was backup PG Mark Anthony Lintag of Blue Horse Beer from Pilipinas 2.3 who dished 7 assists and stealing the ball three times while while shooting 7-14 from the field to finish with 14 points. When asked how if he also felt insulted by being a backup PG with his brilliant performance, Lintag was more humble than Obutusin as he answered "It is an honor to be in the U21 Pilipinas team. I will gladly be a backup PG but if Coach PH-Cezzz gives me a chance to start why not?"

With the young bloods raring to go the battle, their next opponent Kazakhstan U21 team will have to watch out as a new bright dawn has descended upon our U21 team.
