On that note, what would you guys do in a situation (either relegation or finals) where you win the first game on the road with even enthusiasm? That is to say, do I have a better chance of winning at home with even effort or on the road in game 3 with an enthusiasm edge? I'm leaning towards just trying to win at home which I should do but I'm interested in hearing people's opinions. The extra money doesnt really mean anything to me and there's basically no chance in the world that my opponent would also PON this second game (although that would actually really suck for me if I decided to also).

Haha, perhaps not. I didn't exactly wind up in an easy DIII league either though, so depending on that you could be ok.

But looking at your roster, you may need to make some improvements if you head into a DIII like III.3.

I would go for the win at home. Can't risk it. POCT it and end the series.

I haven't looked at your specific league, but with good gameshape and enthusiasm management and maybe an addition or two to your team, you could be a 2 or 3 seed this season.

Well by looking at Your league as it is right now and the squad You got, I would say You in the middle of the pack right now.

Dear DIV people,

I put together a rough estimate of where we need to be to compete in DIII. I failed in my first attempt in DIII, but am hoping on a quick return.

I did an average of a few facts of each team currently ranked #5 in their league. So of a sampling of 32 teams, here's what I saw in regards to world rank, country rank, team salary, and salary of top 3 players.

Look it over and see where you stand! I know I have some work to do...

World Rank: 5241
Country Rank: 217
Team Salary: $198K
Player 1 Salary: $47.6K
Player 2 Salary: $32.3K
Player 3 Salary: $26.5K

Nice work! This is about right although you could probably get away with a little less team salary if you have salary-efficient players, but not too much less.

One thing to keep in mind is that your WR will jump quite a lot when you win playoff series and promote. So just because you are ranked ~8500 when you win your D.IV, doesn't mean you won't be <6000 when you start in your D.III league. For example, I jumped just over 3500 WR spots when I win my division and promoted (based on my WR before D.IV playoffs started to the first scrimmage in my first season in D.III).

Nice job on the research!

I'm not sure if salary tells the whole story, though. You can build a lot of different 50k players, but they're not all equally effective. What kind of match ratings are necessary to compete at the D.3 level? How high does OD, ID, IS, and PA need to be to compete?

Maybe something like this?

Outside Scoring average
Inside Scoring proficient
Perimeter Defense respectable-strong
Inside Defense respectable-strong
Rebounding average-respectable
Offensive Flow average

Outside and inside scoring would be dependent on the offense, while defense and rebounding seem to fluctuate based on where the game is played. This would only be to avoid relegation. Any thoughts?

The problem with defensive team ratings is that they're heavily dependent on enthusiasm and location (home or away), not to mention who plays how many minutes at each position.
