Match day #13 8/14/10
1Derz Bangerz @ Marietta Magic. The Bangerz didn’t feel they could handle the Magic and took it easy. Magic picked up yet another easy win and it seems like the opponents are just falling down in front of them before they even have to play their matches. Magic are going to have excellent game shape all season if all their opponents are going to allow them to manage minutes so well. Magic 99-79.
Indiana Gavno @ E.C. High-Flyers. Gavno have finally become competitive once again, and they provided a great show for the Flyers home fans. Gavno made a tremendous run in the 4th quarter to tie it up with a minute left, and every fan in the stadium was on edge. Turnovers by both teams had the clock run down to around the 30 second mark when a foul by Ambreixo let the Flyers shoot free-throws where they split and took the lead by 1. Disappointed with himself for the previous play, Ambreixo scored out of the timeout to give Gavno a 1 point lead with 8 seconds remaining. Flyers call time to draw up a play and when the clock started again they inbounded the ball to Stefanini who finds Saldana inside who puts it up with 2 seconds left, but the ball bounces out. Woods found himself in the right spot at the right time and is able to just barely get the ball back up and win the game for Flyers 97-96.
Armageddons @ San Diego Crusaders. The Geddons thought they wouldn’t have too much trouble with the Crusaders and took it easy, but that turned out to not be the case. Crusaders gave them more of a battle than they wanted, but the Geddons were able to hold them off at the end of the 4th, 103-100. Renaud and Viana were having a shooters battle throughout the game, and Renaud proved the victor by being able to get the charity stripe very often.
No Potential @ Tachenko. Tachenko took it easy, and played fundamental basketball for a solid mid-season win. Six Tachenko players scored double-digits to contribute to their 106-94 victory. Mayagoitia felt that he was snubbed from the all-star game and made his point tonight with an excellent performance.
Prov City Investors @ Cleveland Crazys. Investors wanted to win more and played normal while the Crazys took it easy. The first half of this game really showed the difference in effort between these two teams, but an incredible run in the second half took the Investors by surprise and completely changed the game. I don’t believe anyone guessed that the team that scored 6 points in the first quarter would end up winning the game 89-77, but the Crazys did it and truly lived up to their team name.
The Illusion @ Champaign. Everything went wrong for Champaign on this night. They played with crunch time effort and it was initially helpful but an injury sustained to Pyatetskiy in the first half left them to keep up. Illusion took the game 89-77. Obregon was asked about what it means to him to represent the Illusion in the all-star game as a starter and responded, “This is my first all-star game with this team and it means a lot to me that I’m starting. Its going to be fun to play with some of these other guys that I really respect like Carmona and I just want to show them all that I belong as one of the elite players here.”
Chicago Goats @ TDX Dutchmen. The Goats looked hung over this game with their horrid game shape and the Dutchmen took full advantage. Hutson had the idea of yelling into the Goats players’ ears whenever they took a shot and it was very effective at making them cringe and of course miss the shot. Dutchmen 97-56. Looks like its going to be a long all-star break for the Goats. The Dutchmen on the other hand have been given to ok by coach to party it up as long as they don’t come back looking like the Goats did tonight.
Roxas City Red Claws @ Red Terrors. Terrors receive their PD boost with 133-45 victory.
Nightly Notable
Leo Woods of the E.C. High-Flyers. There were multiple stand-out performances this night, but Woods popped out even furth
