i think a lot of managers are selling players who's prices are much higher than thee real worth.

Apart from some very rare cases, this is impossible.

Just for the record, check this ( The name of the player isn't write because is on the market now) :

here have been 30 recent transfers of 23-24 year old small forwards with tremendous jump shot and allstar potential. XXXX XXXX is probably better than all 30 of these players, but the few that are most similar have been selling for around $ 1 800 000 to $ 7 250 000.

Range is such a joke, and the player is probably better than the other players that were sold in these values ...

:/

if it happens all the time, then it's their real value instead of a too high price. That's how a free market works.

The key here, I think, is that he is a SF. It can take upward of 7 seasons to train a quality SF. Imagine if the guy who sold for 7.25 million had 6-7 tremendous skills, plus add a couple more in the prominent range. Then he is worth at least 7.25 million, probably even more.

Now, imagine the guy with just tremendous jump shot and atrocious-inept in everything else. There is your 1.8 million guy (maybe even less).

The prices have gone up sure, but right now I am seeing no quality out there at all. These players are a joke. I am simply going to wait it out and not reward an owner who...

a.) didn't train his player efficiently and...

b.) has overpriced his player.

I look at it as conditional learning. He'll just do the same thing again if he's rewarded. And I don't want to see shoddily trained, overpriced players peppering the market. A market I use to enjoy spending hours on.

I can't argue that the prices have gone up. I was simply pointing out the reason for a large varation in transfer price compare. I saw a SF with tremendous JS with a bid of 8 million on him and it seemed to me he was worth every penny.

As for your point about the quality of player, I have to disagree with you there. There are quality players on the market, you just have to be willing to pay for them.

I've been looking for a NT level guard for the past couple weeks and there hasn't been too many options.

I've been looking every day for a guard, maybe not at the NT level but pretty high up there. The issue for me is not the lack of options (I see about 6 that I would take at the moment). The issue for me is that I can't afford them.

I'd argue that the amount of top quality players on the market has been lower as of late.

In terms of NT guys, the issue is probably different than what you are thinking. Having an NT player on your team is now much more valuable. It is one reason why I would probably not sell Wendon - well at least until he no longer can play for the NT.

For non-NT types, the only change there is the elimination of free agents.

I'd argue that the reasoning behind this is that the inflated market is scaring many managers away from placing their top guys on the TL.

I kind of doubt this as the BBs have said they will not let inflation get out of control. My impression is that they are waiting to see if prices will stabilize once we can no longer change arena prices every day. If not, I'm guessing we will see free agents on the market again, or some other type of price stabilization.

If you're looking to sell, now is the best time to get the highest price, in my opinion.

I think on some level the changes to merchandising have influenced pricing on two levels.. one extra money supply has raised the amount teams have to spend... and then the increased revenue these NT bring in actually increases their intrinsic value, in a totally expected manner. And yes, we will continue to monitor the situation

Good to hear.

By the way, my first comments were specifically addressing the possible reasons for a lack of talent on the market, not the reasons for the current inflation that we are observing.
