Mahody: you know I like you a lot. But... I have to add my voice to the majority here. I have never seen anything like this in my many seasons.

Well, I hear you....but I can tell you, Rangel and Polston are my only 2 players I kept from my origonal roster. I added 3 trainees, for a total of 5 for the longest time. I constantly griped that all of my trainees were (1) attrocioius in experience. So when Rangel Popped, I was very glad (and very much aware of when it happened), and when he popped again so soon, and before anyone else popped in experience, I was very surprised. This wasn't a typo, I can assure you. Following every game I scroll through looking for experience pops...and if there aren't any (which is the case nearly every game) I talk myself into thinking it wasn't updated yet, and check again later :-)

LOL, believe me, I know my team VERY well. I keep telling myself I need to limit myself as to amount of time I spend on this site, and going over my team. A mistake was not made. It absolutely happened. Was it a fluke? Perhaps, most likely in fact. It happened during my cup run...maybe he did something in one of those high profile games that gave him an extra bump?...I don't know. He has played a lot more minutes since that second pop, than he played between pop 2 and 3, and he hasn't popped again...so it doesnt make sense no matter how you look at it. What about Polston? Polston has played about the same amount of time as Rangel, and he has only popped once to a 2 (pitiful). My other PG Bruzgys was my first ever purchase...he hasn't played quite the same amount of minutes, but has to be somewhat close, and he has never popped. That does not make sense to me. Dorobantu is in the same boat as Bruzgys.

So, I am telling you for a fact, a mistake was not made....at this point, I would either have to be lying, or an idiot for it not to be true...I'll let you all come up with your own opinion on the answer to that. (You really don't have to share your opinion/answer on that :-) }

Edju: Do you guys keep track of this stuff? It all happened the beginning of July...Can you go back and look and see that he popped from 1 to 2, and 2 to 3 in a short period of time and confirm this?

You are making me want to start an experience study now... But I think there was one done by someone at some point. And I already have a lot on my plate with the cap study that I started: (155261.1).

(Yes, that was a cheap, shameless plug, I will admit it ;-) )

ok exp can be lv 1 or lv 2 for a draftee yer ? (not sure if thats correct )

so wouldnt it be possible he was like 1 sublevel away from pitiful when drafted ? thus he poped quick the first time then got some quality mins in the cup run where the game was on the line and got his second pop.

also i remember reading that exp study im not sure how reliable it is though as i remember reading about exp taking into account the quality of the mins not just the quanity, so if the player was in key situations he would earn more exp in that game.

how that actually works is anyones guess lol.

We seem to have different memories. My memory is the study said that minutes played was the only important variable. Maybe someone can look up the thread and inform us.

The BBs have also said that important games matter more. For example, Cup, playoff and NT games have more weight than league games. Whereas scrimmages do not count much at all (and private league games definitely do not count).

I'm pretty sure number of minutes and type of minutes (cup, nt, scrimmage etc) is what determines experience, not what happens in those minutes.

It would be sooooo complicated to give different amounts of experience for different scenarios that arise during games, and would have no real purpose. It would be far easier to code it so that minutes from particular games give more or less. So National team gives more than league games for example.

I believe a BB has said that situation in a game matters. If I weren't so lazy, I would go find where and who said it, but...

should have written the above a bit more clearer , i remember reading the study , but i also remember reading one of the ask bb threads were they clearly said that players earn more experiance for quality mins.

I don't think that is true at all - I read all those threads and do not remember any statement like that. It could be that my memory is bad but that's another story.

I did a search on experience and came up with nothing from the BBs. However, I did find this interesting thread: (83612.1). Some of the most "experienced" managers in BB offer their opinion there.

I do recall someone saying that the experience factors in game situations and that if a player hits a game winning shot, that could give a boost to his sublevels. I was very new when I read that, so I can't remember who said it...but I remember reading it.
