Well I did it with a school group (I was the teacher) so we had no dodgy guides and did stay in tents. Actually there is a five star camping option there that sounded very cool, you should google it. I never do tours. I have been to probably 30-50 different countries all around the world and have never been on a tour* and Australia is so easy to travel around there is no need as long as you have the money.

I can't remember how long you will be here but lets assume two weeks you will relax for a five days in Cairns/Port Douglas, have a few days of culture and thrlls in Sydney and still have time to hit the center.

However if you can't don't worry. I had over two weeks at Cairns and only just began to scrape the surface of things to do. It is the best place in Australia for a honeymoon considering cost, variety, beauty and seclusion.

PS: The best way to stay safe from Drop Bears (their technical name is Phascolarctos Raptus) is to smear some Vegemite behind your ears, they can't stand it.

PPS: Lots of people are attacked by Magpies each year resulting in many cases of blindness, one trick that really works is wearing your sunglesses on the back of your head.

LMFAO

You cruel bastards! We want people visiting this great land, not canceling their trips and going elsewhere because of bad info! lol

Ignore this lot, Fluff. If you do want to avoid the Drop Bears, ignore Yoda's advice (vegemite behind the ears---really Yoda, that's poor knowledge), everyone knows Drop Bears are carnivorous. Listen Fluff, the only way to avoid Drop Bears completely is to avoid the states they inhabit as one of our many indigenous animals. Travel to Perth, WA instead and you will find no such Drop Bears. Just make sure, Fluff that you purchase a can of Killer Insect Spray (You can buy it through You tube for about $10 Aussie dollars). Unfortunately we do have some nasty, nasty insects and you may not retunr homw unless you do spray your body completely with this spray. Most of us here just use honey but the KIS spray works well too.

I hope your trip Down Under doesn't keep you down under!
