ok, i am out off this discussion for good. we are talking about what makes sense to train and what doesnt make sense. we arent talking about the one or two exceptions on this rule and whether it is possible to train a guy with 1 IS up to NT level. EVERYTHING!!!!! is possible, is it feasible NO!!!!

good luck with training players like the first one.

i am not talking in this discussion about NT players not even U21 players and not even top league players. I believe that the first player isnt worth it to train, not even for a small team. Guess some people would train him or think it is the right thing to do and train this kind off player. I cant say anything else, than that I believe it is a mistake. What people do after that is their own decision.

My post was about tall 18 yr old PFs with Superstar potential. It would be different for a different set of criteria. You are totally missing the point.
Your advice as U 21 manager has to take in starting age, skills, height and potential if you are going to recruit more trainers producing NT prospects.

Generally speaking, mediocre or better JR, OD and Passing on a PF trainee is a Good Thing.
On a Centre, for instance, it is a bad thing to have any JR as it means your player caps earlier than he would otherwise.

I think it's worth me stating here, that I am 100% behind the U21 management team. But, you can always improve.

Don't worry, we are always looking to improve:) And discussion is also always good, even if sometimes not everyone agrees it still makes us stop and think:)

This was the guy i posted before (in case anyone didnt realise)

why wouldnt he make a good PF trainee, especially for a div iii team?
JR and OD start high and these train slowest. Other guard skills are fine (normally youd see at least one atrocious in my experience). SB is low, which is fine especially for PF where it is less important (compared to C) - but you just neeed to make up work on the big skills. But this is fine because no trainee (affordable) is perfect and at his height the big skills should advance at a decent pace.

i understand from the NT's point of view they would be looking at an MVP trained to potential rather than superstar or lower, i would say that i would be very happy with this guy.

Another thing. I have a PF/C perennial AS who has outside skills that probably arent quite as good as this guys but is been trained to potential on his inside skills. He is doing very well for me in division II even against guys with higher salaries. i would also be tempted to keep him as a bench player in the EBL, should i ever make it, (but i havent planned that far ahead!)

I think it's poor advice when an experienced user tells an new player not to bother training his prospect because he's not good enough to play in the EBBL and quite selfish too. Should the U21 manager not give advice to those who seek it regardless of whether the elite think it's worth or not, especially ones who rely on others to train your own prospects!

It's important to note this player was asking for advice in training his player. At the very least we should be giving advice to help improve his team whether by helping him get maximum money back for training or end up with an solid player this guy can move forward with.

Everyone active in the forums knows the england manager's opinion on starting skills, but your quite simply too dismissive for the role if you outright refuse to help players who seek it, because you know better!

it totally amazes me how some people dont read the whole message but are so selective and only read what they want to read.

not to bother training his prospect because he's not good enough to play in the EBBL and quite selfish too

first off all I never said this, that he shouldnt train the player just because he isnt EBBL standard, secondly accusing me off selfishness is outrageous, why? because I never said this secondly, what would I benefit from someone training an EBBL level player? Show me where I said something that even remotely sounded like this. Fluff too and Eminence and the rest keep talking about EBBL players etc, not me or elmecca.

It is funny you are talking about the Elite and about people that know better. Show me one post where I have said or sounded like I believe I am elite, secondly show me where I say I know better. Quote me on it. Or someone who you feel thinks or says this.

It's important to note this player was asking for advice in training his player. At the very least we should be giving advice to help improve his team whether by helping him get maximum money back for training or end up with an solid player this guy can move forward with.

the opinions are divided about this. there is no right or wrong. My opinion and someone elses opinion would be not to train this player, your opinion and some other people think they should be trained. we dont agree on this. what is so wrong about this? this is not an elitist idea, this is not someone who knows better, this is just a different opinion, if you cant accept or handly anyone elses opinion without immediatelly calling it elitist or knowing better than stay out off these kind off discussion, there is no room for accusations. If I feel elitist or better than I wouldnt have posted so often my shortcommings on these forums, if I would feel I am like this, I wouldnt go around the bush but say it straight forward.

Like I said, I will not take part into these discussions anymore, not because I feel better and not because I am elitists LOL I am very far from that, if you look at my track record. The reason is why I stop, is because people like yourself read between the lines when there is no between the lines, you cant accept and cant listen to other peoples opinions. I accept them and I respect them, that is why I step down as NT coach, one reason is because I dont have enough time, other reason is because I dont agree with many things being sad on the forums. Not because these people are wrong, they just have a different opinion and I dont want to hamper any progress the NT makes. Is this the mind off an Elitist or someone that knows all? Judge someone when you know them and not because you want to read something into what someone said when they never said this.
