I don't mind personally. Is the draft time okay?

Draft time is fine for me.

The regular season should have some meaning. So preferably I'd like no more than half of the teams in the league qualifying for the playoffs. Right now that means 4 teams, but a 6 team playoff would be nice if we can reach 12 teams, because it rewards the top two seeds for being good in the regular season with a bye in the first round.

EDIT: Drafting this Saturday might be a wee bit early tbh. Still over a month until the start of the NBA season proper remember. Also, I'd like to recommend using week 24 as the last playoff week; it'll use up all 1230 games of the NBA season and make the championship round last 10 days if I'm not mistaken ;).

Okay, I will take this into consideration. I'm a total newbie at setting up fantasy leagues although I should be a fine player. I think you're also a commissioner, feel free to make some changes and don't forget to discuss and announce it!

I think the Draft date is ok (could even push it out a week or two really)

We have the 10 teams now, Mickyster is still due to sign on and is away on holidays at the moment but will do when he gets his internet access back, so we need at least 1 more if anyone has a friend out there in BB land.

How does everyone feel about the number of players on each team? I adjusted the roster spots to accommodate 2 G, 2 F, 1 C, 3 Utl, 2 Bench = 10 players. I know the mock drafts use more players than this, but I think 10 players is a better number and having only 2 that can go on the bench covers injuries etc without letting teams hog premium players from the rest of the league and stash them on the bench.

As for the length of the season, remember that our play offs have to be over by the end of the regular season in the NBA, if we play our playoffs during the NBA Playoffs then half of the players on some of our rosters might not be playing in the NBA at that time (it's bad enough that in the last couple of weeks of the NBA season, that teams rest players and cost you playoff wins in fantasy ) So we have to time our season to finish with enough time to get a fantasy championship game in the last week of NBA regulation.

Go Bulls!

I do like the 10 player roster setup. The relaxed roster restrictions also appear to be a good idea.

Week 24 covers the final 10 days of the regular season, but you make a good point of the fact that teams like to rest their stars before the play-offs so maybe ending the season on week 23 is the better option after all...

In any case, I think I'll BB-Mail frankafanhock about this league, whom I believe won last seasons roto Aus-BB fantasy thing. See if I can convince him to defend his title.

I much much prefer the 13 man roster - Especially if we only have a 10 team league. I enjoy having to dig for deeper sleepers rather than just picking stars.

If everyone else prefers the smaller roster I won't argue too hard though.

That's a fair point too. Maybe it's time to put some of these debated league rules down to a vote...

It'll hopefully be a 12 team league though; Mickyster has apparently promised to sign up, and then we just need one more to sign up between now and draft day. Heck, if we BB-mail (read; pester) enough Aussie managers about it we might still have a chance of reaching 14...

Yeah, my thoughts on a 10 man squad, was for a 14 team league. I'm not opposed to a 13 man squad in a 10 team gig.

Either way I was planning on winning the whole thing anyways ;-)

I can play but will need quite a bit of guidance about how these things work and what to do once the season starts. I have been in one before which started well but once the season started there was very little to do, no transactions and just a question of taking out injured players and putting in people that were in form. I also agree with mllama a deeper draft of 13 is much better than 10. If you draft a couple of people that get injured you are fairly much dead with a 10 man roster I would assume.

Come in spinner, there will be no shortage of guys who can help, just like on the forums here i guess, we already have the culture built since we all come from BB.

Thing with your squad is that there is a free agent list. If you get an injury, you can decide to hold on to the player or replace him, having less guys adds to the risk/management part of the game (some guys held onto D. Rose all last season, hoping he would return and save the day... oops) If you have too many roster spots, guys just scoop up all the risks and hold them with no penalty, remember with the 10 man squad, your score is made up of the top 8 guys, 2 will be bench guys and this is where you can place your injured guy if you want to hold on to one.

Big thing for an active league is constant change, Trades, Waivers, Hot Free Agents, keep the team fresh, keep the banter flowing.
