Yes, in all reality we are going to have bigs with all the same skills. Some will be better scoring, some will be better rebounding, and some will be better defensively. While that was my "ideal" it won't be what we see on the team. Currently very few people are unwilling to train SBing that high so we won't see many of those bigs. I'm not going to look for players that strictly match that skillset either. Ill go in looking for the BEST players at the time. I will have other ways to break it down of course, like American owned, GS history, and game necessitys. I hope this answers your question Jelme.

Another random tidbit, but I'm also a much bigger believer in rebounding than most other people. It can keep you in games you have no business being in. I think the benefit it has on your club is greater than the extra salary it carries.

Carry on.

A bit off-topic, but I just want to say I am a huge fan of Princeton, and it can really work at the club level. More clubs should experiment with this, because it was easily my best offense for my U21 player Otto Reedy to play in.

Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. What is this Princeton you speak of?

I absolutely hate losing and will do anything it takes to win. I trained a very good guard in Jonathan Yi that was a key contributed to Magiker's first season as U21 manager as well

He's contributed to a lot of fine seasons for me too. Can we get an assurance from you that you won't let our U21 players go to other countries and then come back and single-handedly torch us in a key game? ;)

If you have a dominant PG use it. It's the tactic that worked best with Reedy as my PG.

Interesting, I've noticed it's more dependent on how your bigs' secondaries are rather than a PG.

My bigs do have awesome secondaries, so you are perhaps right, but I believe I led II.3 in 3p%, and I had no shooters at all on my roster, and the only logical explanation for me is that Reedy thrived in the slow pace and set everyone up.

I think the U21 manager biggest job is going to be to help rebuild the USA offsite community. What do you plan to do to get people more involved on the offsite? Do you have any plans for the way that we scout and develop players?

The way we scout and develop players is usually pretty solid. It is just a matter of getting people involved on the offsite. The best way to do this I believe is to post in all the league forums like we did awhile back and the active managers in their current leagues will natural drift towards the offsite and probably want to get more involved.

How about an incentive for joining the offsite? Like some Ke$ha stuff. I'll do all the tactics work for you if you send me Ke$ha stuff.

I don't think rebuild is the right word.

The scouting, and development part of the U21 is exceptional. we have an extensive player database with over 700 players, and a dedicated system of scouts/mentors that find the U21 caliber players and direct them to the database update, and give them some advice on what to do if they are serious about training that player. Something that has vastly improved since Jelme, and Jfarb.

There are a lot of training diaries too that help with that, but the gameplanning doesn't have as much discussion, and I, too, can be blamed for that, since I don't often pitch in.

I think the biggest problem is that often times a detailed training plan is not laid out for the serious 18 y/o prospects because it is never known three seasons in advanced how the team is shaping up, so the managers train their prospects in a "generic" way. By that I mean they don't build specialty players with their prospects, like true SF, true PF's, inside oriented guards, or defensive minded SF's. They go balanced, and salary efficient with their builds. Like 13/10/15/12/12/12 5/5/5 or 3/3/3/3/3/3 13/13/13/9. Eventually we end up with six of those players, and the U21 suffers because of the lack of diversity.

If we are ever to be a team that is a World contender every 2 years we need to identify our best prospects, and lay out a very detailed plan that builds a PG, SG, SF, PF, C, and five-seven complimentary players. As it stands now the U21 has been 4 PG's, a combo guard, one true SF, one outside oriented PF, and four centers. That's unacceptable, and is not our best team, even if it is the team with the most TSP.
