First, thank you for the objections. Second, this will be my last post at the moment in this thread.
Some web traffic will be bots, but some will be people that play another game similar to this, and are looking for other viable options to help them pass the time.
I think this is already a *natural* process without any ads or using SEO/SEA to show up on top of a search list. I guess each of us have done this. I frequently search for online manager games (in a game I’m interested in the managing part, to win games is more a side effect). I’m playing two other games (rugby, soccer). As mentioned, I worked in the design/web/IT field and get more people playing by doing SEO/SEA well, is minimal for such a specific game. To help increasing user in micro-nations (f.ex. native Japanese in Japan) you have to make a *Bling-Bling* Website, add some free cool features and most important… Create an shiny APP which runs on any device properly. In Japan almost nobody is using a computer, they are all stucked to their smartphones 24/7. Can’t speak for other countries, but probably even there people are using a smartphone instead of a home pc. I’m an old-fashioned guy, I prefer hanging in front of my mac and *managing* things in BB. But having an APP will bring more user into the game, IMHO. As long as the website is like it is now, from the business point of view, a merger of nations is the only option to get more competition, to make it more interesting, to get more user which buying the supporter pack then.
If there are groups for the u21/nt purpose, my warning would simply be that forcing groups like this wont make someone who didn't want to develop for the u21/nt pride before suddenly want to. Some people play it for the clubs.
I don’t think people will change their way of playing this game after a merger of micro-nations. Until now, someone’s only goal is getting the crown, someone’s is only having national players in the team, someone’s only training NT players and so on. I don’t think user are changing their way of playing the game radically. There might be a slight shift to an abandonent NT, but then hopefully the community of a country within the mixed leagues will stuck together and try to find a way how to push the NT besides play it for the clubs.
I would think the cup would actually be the ideal test run, but if people are clamoring for more challange in the league, then it probably would reduce the ease of reaching the finals in the smallest of micro's, which would improve finances just as much as a drop in T.V. revenue or other financial restrictions, so it could improve the health of the game.
There will be always unforseen things going to happen after a merger, especially when it comes to the financial thing. It’s in the nature of mankind, that one will always (more or less) accept a certain situation, be it in real life or here in the game. Here I trust the BB developers, that they will react on things if necessary. For sure, some user will leave, but this game is a cool thing, even for a non-basketball-affinato like me. Those who like it, will keep on playing. And the more competition it offers, the more will keep playing it. And this is the starting point… Keep as much user as possible, then start to elaborate how to get more user. That won’t be done in a few season, especially when the whole internet jungle is filled with crap and you must be the one who shines. If you keep the game as it is at the moment, there will be no progress. That’s why I support strongly every step towards a more interesting game. Do the merger…
