That is respect. But that is also any faint hope of 5th gone. Now it is just a matter of can you hold off Zazz and Iwen and who do you want to face out of C-Cat, Hadders or Sid? Personally I think they all smell.

Actually it was a great and exciting weeknight all around.

Wombats took down BLS who are probably keeping everthing for the big cup match.

In a MASSIVE result WB took down WA IS A DUMP on TV despite, "WA IS A DUMP put more into this game than Whitebeard". That looks ominous for Bryce Gibbs.

BHB spanked me. Yawn, sorry everyone.

Pancakes took out Hadders who also probably want to give the cup final their best shot.

The other TV game was exactly the same with the lower seeded team upsetting the higher ranked team despite again, "Bell Park SuperCats put more into this game than Baxter Bogans".

Koop probably slightly tricked HA into thinking it would be a tougher game and didn't play his stars who were up for sale (avoiding injuries and so they would have minutes available) so he was spanked. This does give Sid a hold on 5th...for now.

Monkey normalled DFBS, nice one!

The game that should have been the biggest of the round with Iwen and Zazz fighting to avoid automatic relegation saw Zazz go down without a fight. It is looking more and more like she is accepting the 8th spot which is terrible news for two of C-Cat, Hadders and Sid.

Five games to go and there is just two games betwen first and 5th in the Big 8 while the last three are in a life and death struggle. In the Great 8 there is a brutal fight for 5th and Koop and BHB should be careful they don't slip cause the standard of teams is going up.

Exciting.

Exciting but starting to look a little inevitable

Iwen is picking up DFBS quickly but I dont think he will catch DFBS for 6th. DFBS has invested heavily and looks likely to be favoured with HCA in one relegation series against Hadders.

CCat has a far superior draw than HA. They have HCA next game against HA and then play BHB who are likely to be without the 163K Kuman and the 191K Fosco.

HAs likley opponent in the other relegation series appears likley to be Iwen. Zazz has made no effort to buy players and appears content to take their millions down to div 2 and continue to concentrate on developing their youngsters.
Iwen is effectively 2 games behind Zazz but his draw is a lot more favourable.

Whitebeard who have performed above their players salaries all season just might have a bit of coin left and I reckon might perform a repeat of last season buying in a rent a beast for the finals

To complete the picture seeing there have been a lot of changes:

Total Salaries in Season 18
# Team Players Salary Tot Average Std Dev.
01. WA IS A DUMP (38870) 11 $ 825 264
02. Billy Hoyles Boys (38695) 12 $ 762 791
03. Lewisham Wombats (38600) 14 $ 757 275
04. Black Label Society (38624) 13 $ 722 954
05. Hadders Heros (38744) 15 $ 689 584
06. Baxter Bogans (38751) 14 $ 685 233 $
07. Pancakes with Jam and Cream (38650) 14 $ 683 501
08. Bell Park SuperCats (38757) 11 $ 671 178
09. hopelessly addicted (38913) 14 $ 662 639
10. Da Fat Boy Slim (196263) 15 $ 647 030
11. Whitebeard (38625) 12 $ 621 138
12. Kynlala Knights (196208) 16 $ 614 199
13. Monkey Business (196113) 10 $ 531 925
14. Koopasaurus (196370) 21 $ 426 584
15. Zazzocalypse (38844) 12 $ 232 913
16. Chelsea Seagulls (196950) 11 $ 228 686

Look at Hadders! I wouldn't say Da Fat Boy Slim has a certain win over him by any means, I wouldn't even stake my life on BLS beating him in the cup, although if Hadders does win it will be the biggest Cup upset ever.

Whitebeard is as you have said, doing it really well with a very cost effective roster. Same goes for Monkey Biz. Koop is now 2/3 of the way into tank land. Zazz does seem to have joined Chelsea at the salary floor for the rest of the seaon, how strange when really she just needs 2-3 wins to avoid automatic relegation.

Honestly I'm surprised with the result given my recent loss to Hadders in the cup. I had my 140k PG out injured so effectively it was my 480k salary team vs WA's 820k salary team. Prior to this game I was thinking about selling down a bit for the rest of the season but after this win who knows...

No doubt things are starting to heat up especially those who are near relegation.

No doubt about it.

Im quietly confident that HA can beat Pancakes current line up, on a level playing field with sufficient use of enthusiam and the appropriate amount of bribes, but reality is that HAs is less likely to win as many of its remaining games as what C-Cats mob is.

Should I roll over now and build up enthusiam and wait to the last minute to reinforce the line up for a relegation series most probably against the vastly more experienced and deeper pocketed Iwen or should I fight to the death (most probably mine) in a battle for 5th that I cant conceivably win.

Worst of all is that if HA relegates it will be a much tougher task to bounce back than what it faced the previous time it was dumped from the ABBL because of the more significant changes that would need to occur to its roster

LOL if I were you I'll sell everyone... and keep the salary floor and train up players.
If you do that you will have about 1.5mil extra in the bank for div2 to play around with. Just cut your loses.

Or you can continue this path and get destroyed by two ABBL behemoths in pancakes or kynlala knights. Pick your poison wisely my friend.

Another option is to hope that koops or BHB shoot themselves in the foot and hand over the 4th and 5th positions to you and pancakes.

It had occurred to me that Koops or BHB might be financially better off coming 5th rather than 3rd or 4th.

Could easily happen as CCats mob could quite conceivably win its last 5 games

I however doubt that they (Koops or BHB) have any interest in coming 6th, which leaves that poison to HA.

HCA might be an inadequate headstart for HA given Iwens experience, deep pockets and Kosac.

Not in my nature to not roll the dice

(bugger snakes eyes- again)

Hang on Koops didnt your mob pull off one of the biggest scandles in Game Engine history a few seasons ago to survive a relegation series and stay in the ABBL?

two ABBL behemoths in pancakes or kynlala knights.

Such a relegation series between the two ABBL big boys would be a lot more interesting and even than having either beat up on HA

snake eyes for the win!!
lol means you have 1:36 chance to beat iwen.
my new recruit matty mottram is nicknamed after that.

Yes that was a memorable game and it will go down as one of koop's greatest wins ever. A club defining win.

So are you insinuating that another event of that magnitude could be in for the making during this seasons relegation battle?
The only thing that could top that is a game 3, triple OT, 1 point win. Good Luck HA. *has visions of snake eyes*

Well that win secured my place in the top 5 so now I can sell off parts of my team and ride out the rest of the season in cruise control and not worry about being relegated. :)

I'll let you guys have all the action. The relegation battles sounds waaaaaaaay more exciting than the championship battle.
