I have never understood why games like this refuse or are too lazy to implement "ebay"-style bidding. You put in how much you're willing to pay, the system auto-bids for you up to that amount. No more staying up to 4am because some east coaster on his way to work listed the only 7' HoF 18yo American on the market... no more checking the staff list every couple hours while I try to replace my guy.

Reserve prices probably wouldn't be good though.

I think they would take it better coming from Joey Gladstone

I still find it hilarious that he's the guy this song was written about:

i wish the draft pool has higher skill levels than RESPECTABLE
i mean, u gotta have someone who can come in and score a few buckets for u if he's the #1 pick
it gotta be reflective of the level you are playing at ...

it takes about 2-3 years of ACTUAL time to make a 18 yr old playing a major role on a team at this level
i would have no problem if your entire team improves that much, but it's limited to 3 players 1 position training ..... to get a effective player to that level.

The draft really should have more of a mix. What would make it better is having older players available as well - like a couple of 20-25k mostly capped 23 year olds with decent skill sets, some 19-21 year old guys who are partially trained (maybe 10k level?) and have some potential left, but who are behind where an 18 year old might be, and replace the majority of starter and below potential players with that.

random movie is The Night of the Hunter, a movie about as creepy as the Nick Cave song. not too many movies where evil guys go after kids, sort of the last taboo in movies.

For once, the injury in your playoff game that sticks is to your opponent, not to you. Meanwhile, it looks like whoever wins my game tonight comes out healthy - still the underdog, whichever one of it is, but it might make for a good series.

My new guard w/ marvelous FT & strong stamina missed both his FTs in the 1st quarter. He's only made 2 of his 8 FT attempts for my team.

Just wanted to publicly shame him, that's all.

That just means he's going to hit a metric asston of FTs later and so he's pre-booking his misses so his percentage is accurate. Sadly, while I intended that to not be serious, I wouldn't be entirely surprised to find out that's how it works.

It was probably before you had a team, but I had a guy w/ awful FT shoot about 70% on near 100 attempts. And a guy with tremendous FT shoot only 60-something % for a season. (though his sample size was much smaller... around 30 attempts maybe.)

+1 Thanks for the info! will definitely make a note of it & check it out sometime. Films are one area I'm somewhat ignorant in. (even more so post y2k)

glanced at an ebert review & saw the imdb rating... impressive. So it's on the level of something like Sunset Boulevard, Double Indemnity, or Vertigo?

Good game Hrudey. Best of luck against Pappy

The relegation series turned out well. This conference has the makings of an absolute meat grinder.

No offense but kind of pulling for Pappy in the finals. It sure would be a feel good story to see him finally make the leap.

Well crap, I am struggling mightily to find time to do awards so I will roll them out as I get time. So with that sais,Coach of the year and MVP awards go out right now.

Coach Of The Year

Pappy
Let's be honest, the most feared team in the league all season has been the angry Dog River Riverdogs. This team has been the best inside oriented team in the league, which is rate considering how many people are diverting from the look inside offense. To add to it, they have put together some of the best team ratings all season.Theres nothing this team can't do. Offensively they are a great all around team from the PG all the way down to center and their defense is just as good. There is a reason they are feared and find themselves in the championship even with two crucial injuries to the team. Great job Pappy!

MVP

Neal McCory

This guy has quietly put together a great season and it's no coincidence he is on the best team in the league. Between averaging 17PPG and 12RPG he has consistently been a center piece to the Dog River Riverdogs. To add to it, he had been good defensively too, averaging almost 2BLKs per game. At the end of the day it's not just stats the earn the MVP honors, it takes efficency as well, and McCory has been one of the most efficient players in the league with his 16.5 average rating for the season. Put everything together and there really wasn't much competition.
