Hello everybody,

I am proud that my player Meliton Genzola played for Philippines today. I know it is not the most important thing, but he had the second best DMI for this game.

I hope he gets proper training and shows a good performance so that he can help getting more victories for this country.

Sorry I can't speak tagalo.

Best whishes for the team!

Okay.

This post is long overdue, cos' I was busy with stuff. But here is what happened during the past few weeks.

November 9 2009

Iran vs Philippines
55 - 74

This is a low scoring game, partly because of their tactics, but we pulled through in the second half. Our big men performed quite well despite the fact that Iran went 2-3 against us, and put more effort into it than us.

It was a nice feeling that we won our first game of the second round of the tournament, and it was against a top opponent at that.

November 16 2009

Philippines vs UAE
114-61

We nailed the tactic correctly, so it was an easy win for us. We had 6 players in double figures, led by Quisumbing with 19. Substitutes Velasco and Saballe went crazy with 19 and 10 rebounds respectively.

This was our 2nd win for the round, which further solidified our place in the standings, and rightfully so. The players are trained well nicely, and their managers coordinate with me the whole time, so its all good. Hopefully, they'll get better game shapes next time.

November 23 2009

Philippines vs Malaysia
114-57

Malaysia were without one of their starters due to injury, and so were we. Don Manoah helped me with the tactics for this one, and was spot on. Our offensive and defensive plays were perfect and the game was quickly decided in the first half, even though they put more effort into it than us. Guards went wild on this one.

By now, we have 3 wins and 0 losses for the round along with Australia, which was expected. We only have to win one of the remaining 2 matches in order to cement our place in the qualifications, since two countries from each pool will qualify. But rest assured, that we will try to win as much games as we can in order to get better rankings next time.

We won two games despite the fact that Iran and Malaysia exerted greater effort than us. They are contenders for the 2 qualifying spots mind you. As of today, Singapore, Malaysia, and Iran all stand at 1-2 and would need to win their remaining two games to knock us off our perch. Malaysia will fight against Iran next week, and whoever wins that one will have a little chance to make it through. Singapore, the hosts for this tournament, will play us this week in a do-or-die match for them. They will be put up their best effort on this one, and rest assured that we will be prepared for it. ;P

Please please be online for match chats para naman we can discuss tactics and all that jazz, especially for U21 teams. If you guys are looking for mentors, marami lalo na for Saturday and Tuesday matches I believe. People are friendly and fun as I've been told.

U21 matches are during Mondays at 7, y'all.

Till next time.
xoxo

I checked just now, and guess what?

We are now the 12th ranked team in the world~!

And I still get 66% approval ratings. Pfft.

that's wondeful news!sana ma crack natin ang top 10 soon.

ok lang yan.it may seem that it's a thankless job but upon discussions with other managers dito sa pinas, most of us think that you're doing a great job. yong iba pa hindi lng alam na merong approval rating kaya hindi bumoboto.kaya boto na... :L)

congrats lia!!!!
i agree to don ang cezzz.
i know u understand me.pro kapag may probs i can still help nmn eh.bsta kung vacant lng ang tym.hehehe
cge have a nice day...

Congratulations for the staff. Don't worry about that percentage. Spain is ranked 2nd for its NT, but there is only 73% of supporting votes. I suppose it has to do not only with the results but also with the good communication between the staff and the rest of the people.

Let's beat Singapore!
