Like a lot of you I have no idea what I am doing. The Beasts were stronger than me last season and both them and ACT have pulled further ahead.

Out with the old. Hainbush, Hutchin, Alarcon, Creek and some draftees are out. That is 2 starters, 1 backup and 1 deep bench gone and nearly $70,000 a week saved. Over 14 weeks I hope that will make a difference to my overall finances even if I will be a little thin on roster for a while.

Draft was terrible, well done Beasts! I actually spent $10,000 a week and got rubbish. Here have a laugh.

Caleb Ahipene (21092447)

He was a 4 ball 6'0" 18 year old and my first preference, sounded good at the time. Awful JS and mediocre OD. Bleh!

Barunoma McCann (21092482)

My 9th pick was a 4 ball 18 year old C. Also pathetic.

Total garbage but 3rd pick always is, I may keep him for a cheap scrimmager. I feel like investing $0 in the draft but if I still am 50-50 on tanking the season need to keep my options open.

Welcome all new people.

Let's try again...

Hi all,

I'm Mick and I’m new to Div III as you're all aware, promoted albeit without a cup to show for it.. Let's just say I'll remember to set my default lineup as my best possible team before any crucial finals series in the future!!! That hurt to say the least!

I'm a keen fantasy player of all sorts of sports, in particular Aussie Rules but would really like to get to know BB better, correct training methods, stadium capacity, etc. is there anyone who can point me in the right direction, perhaps a program or a forum where I can spend atleast a week or two dissecting all the information required to be competitive in this game? I don't like to just be a spectactor ;)

I understand that minutes played has some sort of correlation with training effeciency but I'm a bit vague on all the details. If someone would like to dissect my team I'd be more than happy to put up individual ratings etc. for who I'd consider my better players..

Thanks for listening guys :)

hey stazza/mick

we will probs just call you stazza if thats alrite.

aussie rules nice... is this dreamteam/supercoach?

ask whatever questions you like mate and im sure some of us more experienced can help you.

first thing i see is that yo have too many people on your roster... i would cut it down to at most 15

if you have any money i recommend you buy 3 18 yo's all around the same height and at least all-star potential. if you dont have the funds. you could probably train Chantrey, Vien, Gillespie.

personally i dont know what other think but i would fire:
Chalmers - too old, no good.
Beardsall - he is rubbish - you cant try sell but you will get very very little.
McKenzie - rubbish and older that Beardsall

up to you with all that but if you hope to stay up you will need alot of luck or money. your arena is small.

so depending on whether you want to go back down and get back up after doing some training and some arena building to be in a better foundation for competing in div 3 is a decision you need to make.

if you decide to train...

ideally for 1 position training you want to play the three players you are training a full game each at the training position of your choice so they get the full 48 mins training.

if you do 2 position training which is slower but you can train 6 players, for example pg/sg Pressure training you will be able to train 2 players at pg and sg for both league games and also the scrimmages.

(144856.1)

that is a good guide to help you.

but feel free to ask questions

oh and good luck on your first game. regrettably it is against me and i will try not to pump you by too much

Hey mate,

There is a wealth of knowledge in this forum alone so you have landed yourself in a good Div

Basically ask your questions away and we are more than happy to help you out.

In Div III the top guys can fill out 10K capacity stadium, you will want to look to upgrading that quick smart. In terms of minutes 48 mins is the minimum to get full training for a week (bar the team training options), and to keep you guys at optimal game shape each week you want them to be getting 60-88 mins per week. Anymore than that can cause drops in game shape.

Important Notes
1. ALL TRAINEES MUST GET 48 MINS PER WEEK FOR FULL TRAINING
2. UPGRADE YOU ARENA TO A MINIMUM OF 9K (upgrade more later)

There is alot more information but this is the basics from your opening post

Fantastic stuff mate, thanks heaps!!

And both DT and SC actually, have finished in the top 150 or so the last 3 years for DT (72nd last year if I remember correctly) and regularly top 1000 for SC but this year has been a bit of a struggle - still in the top 1% but not happy with my ranking of about 3000th overall mate, I don't usually play for league glory but as I'm in a number of cash leagues this year I've taken a bit more interest in leagues. STAZZAFC is the team name I always use ;)

I did try a couple of times to sell those guys in particular but it seems no-one was interested, I may just have to fire them!

I think I might be spending way too much on my staff, and this could be better spent upgrading stadia:

Allan Cottenden
Trainer
Skill Level: advanced
Specialty: None
Last week's salary: $ 25 244
This week's salary: $ 25 685

Franklyn Avery
PR-Manager
Skill Level: superior
Specialty: None
Last week's salary: $ 32 943
This week's salary: $ 33 601

Let me know if I've made a mistake here! I just assumed going for the best possible staff I could afford may ramp up the effects of training and supporters of the club.

Haha cheers mate, I'll try not to put up too much of a spud performance in the first game haha

well i do DT aswell. but i am in a league with my cousins so there is a bit of pride on the line. currently sitting 3rd.

i wouldnt spend more on a PR manager than i would on a trainer.

Maicol Galván

Trainer
Skill Level: superior
Specialty: None

Last week's salary: $ 35 821
This week's salary: $ 36 537

Djeloul Benaïssa

PR-Manager
Skill Level: competent
Specialty: Crowd Involvement

Last week's salary: $ 14 614
This week's salary: $ 14 833

that is all i am paying.

I did try a couple of times to sell those guys in particular but it seems no-one was interested, I may just have to fire them

if you havent listed them at $1. then do that, but if they dont sell just fire them

Welcome to 3.12 Stazza, if competitiveness is what you seek, then you have hit the right league.

Having a quick look at your team, you definitely need to start planning long term, and forget short term success.. Realistically i think you will be battling hard against relegation, and below are some point i think you need to address

1) As bainsy pointed out.. You need to trim at least 5 guys from you roster. If you get rid of 5 3k salary players, it is an extra 15k profit per week. If you are not going to train any guys currently on your roster, get rid of at least 8 then to bring in 3 trainees...

2) Definitely lose your PR manager.. i would say for this league, advanced is fine and you dont want to be paying more than 15k per week for him, the cheaper the better, and dont worry about bonuses he might offer, you should be able to pick 1 up for 1-2k.. As for your advanced trained, if you can pick 1 up with a cheaper salary without paying more than 10k, go for it, but again look for someone around the 12k mark..

3) Arena. Your arena needs alot of work.. look at other team arenas in this league to get an idea of what your competing against.. more seats = more money...

4) Trainees - On your roster I would say Perenara, Gillespie, Lia would be your best 3 training prospects. still young and good potential, and without knowing ratings, i would think maybe Pressure would be a good training regime to help lift their Outside defense. - if you have any $$ to bring in new trainees younger than 22, you may wish to do that, but if i were you, any $$ i had i would be investing in the Arena.

5) Training - When you set your training to PG, it is only the players who PLAY at Point guard for the week who get the training. You want each trainee to get 48 minutes per week for maximum trainin. The best way to accomplish this is when you set your lineup, select the player you want to train as Starting PG, and then in both backup PG positions. Tell your coach to play players in foul trouble, and avoid putting any other PG on the bench, so that in blowout situations your trainee stays on the court.

6) Draft - Unfortunately i think you will finish close to the bottom, so once you cut some expenses maybe invest 20k per week in the draft so that you maximise your chances at getting a solid player in the draft...

Buzzerbeater is different from DT and SC mainly for 1 reason : DT and SC you play for 1 season and start again. With BB, you need to establish a long term strategy and plan for the future. Use this season to set yourself up for the future.

The Dreamers are done spending money now.. Apart from the reason we are broke :D but we now have the players we want..

Spending almost as much as the plebs last season.. i dont expect to win this season, but i am happy with the group of trainees at my disposal.. my latest signing is exactly what i was looking for as my future SF so hopefully he can develop nicely :D
