It is like Espanol and Barca.
Do you think that Espanol believes they can match Barca on a regular day? Much less than those German teams exmple you've brought.
Did Espanol finds Barca to be their rivals? Sure thing they are.
They will get much happier in case they will win, but will not take a loss as seriously as losing some weaker team.
The reason - this rivalry is a biased one.


that more derby and the underdog thing, my home town have a rivalry with ahanover and the outcome and importance of that match would be important even with two league difference.
Rivalrys here are if you win they are happy, if you loose they are said so not like the Espanol example.

You just gave an example yourself...
Like in your example, the fans will be more happy, or less, upon those results.

The only thing that is needed to be adjusted and calculated is the outcome of quality in addition to result on the fans' reaction.
But.. This is true for any match, and not just the rivalries games.

the example i gave, the fan would be disappointed and talking about the loss even years after it just since those games aren't that regular through the league difference. The same goes for wins.

So it is not like beating the big/strong/rich team, like you mentioned betwen espangnol and barcelona where the win get more special since the opponent is big(maybe the effect why most teams are more happy to beat the lakers instead of washington or cleveland in the after or before lebron time)

let's try to summarize it once again, and in short lines:

1) Rivalry are something that is pilled up along the seasons, and stronger and richer teams tend to get more team that find them as rivals.

2) Rivalries that are due to a long time of competitiveness (like derby games) are stronger than a one will have against just a richer team.
But, on this game there is no way to define a long lasting rivalry (at least not to much), and diffrenciate it from other rivalries.

3) A reacher and stronger team that will lose to a rivalry that is weaker will have much stronger affect on fan base, than losing the same rivalry with a similar strength team (for example).

So what do all those "short lines" have to do with the "fix the rival system"?

Every single line has (a) no connection whatsoever to the current rivalry system or (b) actually shows that the current rivalry system works fine.

Thanks for joining me in my opinion that the current rival system if fine.
