If you look at this old final, played as early as in season 3: (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/league/199/overview.aspx?Seas...)

you will see that they are the first teams of 3d team and Carolina s Panthers.

Now we repeat that final 24 seasons later!

So we are veterans in BB, that could somewhat explain the surprise. To start with, he probably trained game shape, and of course he played the right tactic.
