Nothing to do with minutes played
It's true right after the sale. But I think, and it's only my opinion, that the jersey sales are calculated according the minutes each player has played during the week before the economical update. Since the minutes of the sold player will have to be redistribute into the other players, one week later the merchandising should increase.

Sorry, I know you are the BBB champ, but that is wrong. It has nothing to do with minutes.
It is all about the leaderboards. Let me tell how I know. I was making a deep cup run, I was resting my best players a league game each week during the cup. Three players, who were on all three leaderboards(League, Country, and World) didn't have enough games to make the list. (If you look at the league page, it will tell you the minimum games you need to be on the leaderboards)My merchandised dropped 100K. That is when Justin sent me a mail showing my per player merchandise sales. Two of my players were NT guys, didn't matter. No money from jersey sales. I knew this two seasons ago. And now I always make sure my guys always have the minimum games played for the leaderboards.
