How about salary floor for players that increases by x% for every year beyond 18. This way keeping old players becomes luxury instead of exploit?

You have found the key. If you were to pay a minimum salary to veteran players like in the NBA (I think it's a million per season) the nostalgia, sentimentality and exploitation of grandparents would end.

Yesterday I invented Coca-Cola as an answer to a question and I came to say practically the same thing that is said around here.

I was writing this in response to this message (181812.11) but it closed just before I could send it, so I make a new wall.

In my opinion, players should retire by their own decision at a certain age and following a series of parameters.

Maximum age to play 45.
If a player is very physical or very tall, he should retire earlier.
If a player has had many injuries throughout his career, he should also retire earlier.
There must always be a random factor so as not to know a priori at exactly what age you will retire.

I think all I'm proposing is:
- Logical considering the reality of the sport that is being simulated.
- Relatively easy to implement.
- You can only be against it if you have been playing the game for more than a few years and want to have players on the roster who are over 100 years old.

When the player approaches his retirement age he will not accept renewal offers... oh no, here there are no annual contracts to respect and the players do not have any decision-making power.

Perhaps being able to retire at a certain age is the first step to freeing them from their slavery.

Maybe they should retire when their TSP is lower than their age.

Oh. Maybe I should retire.

I really like the veteran minimum salary idea. We need to treat our elders with respect instead of parading them around on the team bus and paying them below minimum wage. And maybe a massive injury modifier if you actually try to play them. I can tell you that it will be realistic as a fellow old man. Let's develop the hall of fame a bit further to maintain the nostalgia. Maybe even the ability to assemble a prime HOF squad and play them in private matches?

A prime HOF team would be absolutely fantastic!

In a game similar to this one that no longer exists, retired players went to the HOF with their highest stats. At the height of their careers, it was a good way to remember and honor them, and make them play with terrible skills at an advanced age for the economic benefit of the team. club seems like senile exploitation to me.
