I had a quick look. You were very lucky to get them at pick 16. But I didnt anyone else of any real value so...
[In every draft i have ever seen there has never been "more than 2" players worth more than $300k.
Unless there was others I didn't see, I still haven't seen one.
At the end of the day, it is up to the individual how they find their trainees. All I know is every draft brings the same "Not much this season. Just this one guy" discussion, followed by "When are we getting a decent draft?". When that standout player is drafted and is just worth the money spent on scouting, everyone else puts it down to a freakishly bad draft, like they did the season before that, and the season before that...
I was going to approach the best Australian 18 year olds manager this season and tell him to name his price. Do you know who it was? A f**king bot in Div 4! I wonder what he spent on scouting?
I have spent 1.2 mill in 5 seasons on 3 players and have sold 1 for 500k while the other 2 would bring between 2-2.5 mill combined and that is being conservative. All 3 were the exact players I needed, were virtually uncontested and were guaranteed to be worth the money i committed. No risk of someone else getting the good pick or only being guards when i needed talls. If I couldnt find what I wanted (which I always did) it set me back absolutely nothing... The only complaint I have ever had about my juniors is my 3rd trainee often misses out for the other 2. And I still make a profit of it!
