Might help my long jeopardy in the ABBL.

Hahaha you mean longevity?

Yeah, exciting finals so far. Feel bad for the Bulls though.

Koop you have made the finals of the ABBL and if not for that injury you would be favourite. How is that bad planning?

It may look and all dandy and stuff making the ABBL finals, but believe me its not. Thats the state of this game atm LOL.

It cost me 2mil up front to buy Radford, Gusic, McManara and Pearshouse. Another 1mil per week to keep them. Have kept them for 2 economic weeks so far costing 2mil. In total lost 4mil in trying to secure an ABBL championship.

Thats the beauty of this game I guess... nothing is certain. I was kind of confident coming into the finals with a full squad, now I'm not so sure.

I knew there would be a chance of injuries and anomalies and stuff but if I had a chance to play my cards differently I would have preferred to save that 4mil.

Not only did I gut my future in the ABBL, it would take ages to make that money back.
So yes Direwolf, my
longevity
is in jeopardy LOL

It's still good that you took a shot. I had a swing at the cup last year and got rolled by Dire and it cost me 1/2 - 3/4 of a mil all up. Not massive compared to you but still an amount that took me a while to recoup given i like to try and play finals each year.

I like the fact there are no certainties in the game. It would be crappy if injuries and so on weren't part of it and you knew you could load up and win.

here's hoping it's still a good finals series.

I have spent much more than that to just try and win division II with no guarantee of success and getting close to bankruptcy warnings. If I fail I can't just sit back and tank 1/2 a season clearing $500k a week, I will have some very tough choices to make. The good thing about the ABBL is there is always a tanker/bot in the Great 8 to ensure you can buy up before the relegation series and survive. I don't know what happened to Pancakes and Slam ! I would have assumed they could have easily bought up big and survived.

Slam did buy up, just got burned by injuries, and had no depth to cover it. Pancakes probably got a touch unlucky in game 1, but really needed another player to ensure he avoided relegation.

Anyway, I'm bored again, so here's my take on the playoff series (without giving anything away on tactics etc!)

PG: Hahi bin Awang v Rob McNamara

Both ex aussie PG's, and will be looking to feed the big men all game long. Both have had a solid if unspectacular playoff series. Don't expect either to light up the scoreboard, this one will be a battle of passing and defense
Verdict: Draw

SG: Spencer Moylan v Leszek Anczykowski

After an injury scare in the semis, Leszek will take his place in the Wombat's lineup. This looms as an important battle - if Leszek can chip in with 20 points, that will take the Wombats along way towards winning the series. Moylan is a good facilitator, but not much of a scoring threat. His role will be to get the ball into the bigs, and stop Leszek on the offensive end.
Verdict: Advantage Wombats

SF: Wazza Kennerley v Birol Yalduz

Wazza has had a great playoff series thus far, while Yalduz suffered an early injury in the quarter finals, and had a quiet game in the semis. Both players have a key defensive role - if either SF can get on top, that would go a long way towards deciding the series. Wazza probably has the edge in this matchup, though their season numbers are pretty similar
Verdict: (slight) advantage Koop

PF: Cedomir Gusic v Antonio Manfrotto

This is where the series will be won and lost. Gusic is the last remaining twin tower with Radford going down, and has the potential to have a monster game. Manfrotto has had a stellar season, and has probably been the Wombat's best player. Manfrotto is probably the more natural PF, but how do you compare with 360K of wages?
Verdict: Advantage Koop

C: Mitchell Pearshouse v Shachaf Kremer

These two take a take a back seat to their more credentialed big man partners, but this is another key matchup. Kremer has been on fire during the playoffs, while Pearshouse has been quiet. Both have the potential to light up on the offensive end, while contributing solid defense and rebounding
Verdict: Draw

Benches: Goodall, Vidensky and Gafa v Rooney, Arcuato and Khan

Both teams will be hoping their bench doesn't have to do to much work, but there are players here that can do the job if need be. Goodall probably has a slight edge over Rooney, with Gafa the edge over Khan, but Arcuato has a big edge over Vidensky.
Verdict: Draw/ slight advantage Koop

Overall Verdict: Koop probably has the better team, and slightly better game shape but the Wombats peg that back somewhat with home court, and maybe a slight enthusiasm advantage. Overall, should be a cracker of a series!

hahah love it!
All the matchups including the bench that you have summarised are precise and justified.

Verdict would look a lot different if Radford was still around. (sad face)

Ohh well such is life. Now lets prepare for an epic close battle tmrw night... But I still believe you have an overall advantage HCA is just way too huge. Only a healthy Radford can overcome that big of a HCA advantage.

hope no more injuries for either of us. touch wood....

I spent 5 mill on acquisitions and then probably about 2 or 3 mill on salaries the first time I went from div 2 to 1.

Yes there was a million promotion bonus, but I went early spending big in the all stars week. (was out of the 4, facing possible relegation at the time)

Who hasn't logged on for a month and looks like going bot. Will be a great season to be in the Big 8 if it is true.
