Yeah i think if you set someone as a starter, backup and reserve they should play the whole game unless they foul out or get injured.

I had the same problem too, but from what i know when the game is blow out then the coach is using subs. You will find that this problem is very common and thats why is so hard to train 3 or 6 players respectably

It has been made relatively clear to me that the architects of the game have made it intentionally difficult to get 48 minutes for players in a single game. Managing minutes is not supposed to be easy (one of the charms of the game, I suppose).

That being said (and without looking at the games mentioned here)... here are some tips to make the 48 minute goal a greater possibility (it is never 100%):

1) Dress 9 or fewer players. [If you have 10 players in a blowout game, your player will be substituted out]
2) Make sure each player is put into the rotation. If you dress 9 and only 8 are in the rotation, the 9th guy is going to come into the game in a blowout situation... for someone. Because the AI tends to be cruel, the player will invariably come in for the player you want to play 48 minutes.
3) Place the player you want to play the whole game at all THREE (starter, backup, reserve) positions.

However, doing all of this is not a guarantee of 48 minutes. Playing only 5 players is not a guarantee of 48 minutes either (due to fouls and injuries).

Was your lineup set up exactly like this?

PG: Garbett Bertinelli Bertinelli
SG: Monreal Monreal Monreal
SF: Dodd Tkautz Tkautz
PF: Faggiano Mpravos Mpravos
C: Katidis Zuleta Zuleta

Strictly Follow Depth Chart
Let Them Play

That should have worked, even with a blowout lead, and left Monreal in for the whole game (or at least until he fouled out). Set up like this, Monreal should have definately started the fourth quarter. I have had a problem in the past where my "whole game" player was inexplicably taken out at the 47 minute mark. I have never seen my "whole game" guy not even start the fourth quarter though. If you followed the above exactly, and still had Monreal sub out after 3 quarters, I have no idea how that could happen (unless he was injured or had fouled out).

you dont need to tripple book. when I want my players to play 48 min, i dont add reserves or backups to the line up for the position i want the player to play 48 min at. just make sure you dont have any players set as reserves on other positions.

I also set the game to "strictly follow depth chart" and select let them play in the foul section and it always works for me...
