From what he said I gathered that his whole team has bad stamina (I'm assuming around awful or inept stamina levels). And I think that if he has good backups, then the coach will naturally rotate players when the starters get slightly tired. Also I think awful or inept stamina isn't overly bad compared to awful or inept free throw. And so I think the free throws will improve his team more and will win him more games.

From what he is describing in the other thread and from what I can see from his last few games, he is getting smashed in the 3rd Quarter consistently. That is a sign of bad stamina. It is much more useful to train stamina than it is to train FTs when you are being outplayed because your players are getting tired

dont underestimate the value of stamina and free throws they can win games

add to the fact that you dont have to worry about minutes and even your 33 year old bench warmer can get a pop and it seems amazing

I had a look at his last few games just then, and yeah it seems he does falter a bit in the third quarter but he does fire up again in the last quarter so his stamina can't be that bad. On the other hand, he is missing countless free throws in all of his games. I just had a look at the last few and he is shooting less than 50% average. I think that at the moment the free throws will help win more games. Or maybe train free throws this week and stamina next week if his stamina is so bad.

Stamina is hurting him a lot more than FTs. Yes his FTs are poor as it is around 50% or so but if you also look at the FTs given up by his team, you will notice that the other team takes more FTs than he does on the majority of his games. This is an indicator that either 1. his defense just plain sucks and/or 2. his guys can't keep up with the other team on defense and hence fouls which is directly linked to stamina.

I think he needs to work on both. But in the short term, stamina will help him more as he doesn't take that many FTs to begin with.

At 50% FT, I would train FT now, and train ST in the off season. Making a team better at FT will have a direct impact on your score. And if you can score 2 to 3 more points in your games, it is worth it. Of course training ST will help also, but it is hard to know the effect.

When I first started this game, my team shot 47% FT the first season. I got so pi$$ed watching the games, I spent 4 straight weeks training FT. I know now that was a bad move, but I didn't want my team shooting 10-22 at the line and lose by 2 points. Now I just train it once a season, and the team shoots around 70% which is acceptable.

Again, it would not be bad to train ST now, but I think when your FTs are low, you can get better results from FT training.

Just my 2 cents...

As everyone knows it is all-star week, and i dont know if i should train stamina, or free throws.....my team has bad stamina, i know that...and a few of my losses, i could have won or gotten alot closer if I had made my free throws...any ideas?

The way I would answer it is look at the players you believe will be the longer term players in your roster. If you know you plan to sell half your guys and just build around 2 or 3 players do whats right for them and dont worry about the rest. They will eventually be succeeded by new players who you can then shop for with similar strengths/weaknesses.

Could a boost in stamina help the free throws? Meaning, if the players aren't quite as tired when they get to the line, wouldn't their chances of making the shot go up a bit? That is true in RL of course, but would it be the same here?

I don't believe so. However, only a BB would really know the answer to this.

I did the same things a few seasons ago, but I don't think it was a dumb move. I fired my level 5 trainer to start season 10, hired a level1 trainer, and trained FT for 5 weeks straight. In the championship tiebreaker game that season, I shot 18-21 from the line and won by 3.

As far as whether to train FT or Stamina, I think they both help your team, but FT shooting seems to get much better each pop you get, especially at lower levels. But I agree with Superfly even more so. Help out the players you plan to hang onto.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.
