I would rather take a chance on players i know nothing about then draft a player i know has 2 potential. Even more so when one is a 19 year old. A lower level could have some use for a 6th man/Starter but it wouldn't help me and i wouldn't think they would sell for that much.

should be quite an inactive league then, i would like to get an quality player even when his potential isn't good instead of a dude who also don't have the quality. maybe you could make this decision when you draft first, and this is the best one u know but else i would take them easily above a random scrub.

Fair enough. I'm happy to gamble when potential is 2 or lower.

You can buy a $4,000 6th man after the draft for probably $10,000. But if one of those unscouted guys turns out to be a superstar or a MVP then he could be worth $100,000-$500,000 even at $3,500 salary, and someone who could eventually become your best player ever. Why risk missing out on a shot (very small) at getting someone game changing to get someone who is certainly not!

Just to make this clear, you do realize the only thing game stats are good for is finding out if your guy can shoot FT's, or fouls a lot.An A+ grade rating player could be 0-11 from the field and be a SG.

I am not even sure if they are reliable for that. I think all things considered they are only useful as a tie breaker if the players are exactly alike in all other ways.

Well, I had this debate already with someone else, but if you guys think all the boxscore is good for is to see if they can hit a free throw, then you are missing out on some pretty decent skill indicators. I see lots of people saying how useless the boxscore is, but just because there is no quantifiable skills or definitive answers given by a box score doesn't mean it's useless.

but when you share the box scores with your guys from the league, where you expect that it is the same player the boxscore are sometimes really different - which means there is a lot of random involved.
