I agree with almost everything you say, except for the handling/driving part. He already has respectable IS, so making him a slasher with high, cheap driving will make him much better. Driving trains Handling quite fast, only about half as fast as handling training itself, and it should raise the IS to about strong. Also, he needs to train less JS if training driving. So, the training would be JS->DR->HN->JS->DR->HN->... until JS reaches sensational and Handling reaches strong. Then he can finetune his skills, and yes, work further on his OD.

It's more about the additional IS training that 1 on 1 gives. Strong IS for such a slashing guard would already make him quite strong in that department.
