I don't think it is useful at all. True salaries are proportional to skill, but salaries can also be highly inflated depending on the build of the player. e.g a monoskilled monster.

I think the +/- stat gives a better reflection on how much value that player is to the team while on the court.

I agree with Monkey 100%. I have often looked at the "amazing" players my opponents have and wondered how I could beat them, only to discover their player had marvellous JS but inept OD so they scored 20 but my guy with 1/4 of the salary scored 30. We use salary as a point of comparason as it is the best thing we have, DMI is close to useless and match rating is very closely tied to defence, but we know how flawed using salary to compare can be.

i think dmi is more useful then salary, because it is the salary formula including game shape and training after the update. I would use it more for determing a lineup then salary.

Have to admit I do to when there is a bit of a close call between two guys. Sometimes you just have two very similar players and it is the one who is in the best GS that gets the nod each week. I can't swear to you but I also think DMI is affected by FT and Stamina a lot more than salary is.
