i have several player with high stamina, and for me the substituitions always had worked.

It isn't something wrong per se. The scenario he is describing is true if he has a really strong starter and a really weak backup. No matter how many minutes the starter plays, he will still be better than the backup, hence why the coach keeps him on.

It really has nothing to do with high stamina. If you have a 100k player with atrocious stamina and a 5k player in at backup with proficient stamina, the same thing would happen. (assuming the game is close and there are no other factors like a blowout, etc)

This problem can be sorted out in a snap, if minute allocation were allowed. It doesn't even have to be exact minutes, a range would do as well. For example Starter -> 35-40, Bench Player -> 10-15. Etc. Substitutions could be made at default times during the game, when the starters get tired, or when the score allows it - to get to that target of the minute range. In a blowout the bench player would play more..

But of course this would make it easier to train players given the training system depends on minutes played. Which, btw, isn't exactly realistic either.

That would make it too easy. Its OPs own fault if he cant put together a team with decent backups - fix your lineup and minutes wont be an issue anymore.

The quality of the backup should be irrelevant! If I'm setting the depth chart, maybe I'd like a scrub to come off the bench and eat minutes, if I'm going to win anyways. Basically the "strictly follow depth chart" option then becomes the "coach picks from depth chart" option.

And are you saying that if the backup is a bad player, the starter won't sub out regardless of stamina? Because this is quite clearly not true. Players with average to bad stamina always sub out, regardless of the quality of the backup. This should be no different for strong and proficient players.

I agree with you, in non trainable slot i buy players with low stamina (3) yust to avoid them playing too much minutes because i canĀ“t aford a good backup. For me, low stamina in this players is good and somethin i look for. I should not be like that.

The problem isn't stamina. It's the large quality gap between your starter and your backup.

That's a problem, but not the problem.

If my awful stamina SF is backed up by a much worse player, he subs out without fail. If my strong stamina PG is backed up by a similarly bad player, he doesn't come out of the game. So the problem is directly related to stamina.

As far as quality players go, there are sound strategies in which you use bad players to eat minutes in easy league games, to save salary. If an owner sets his sim for "strictly follow depth chart," the coach should follow that depth chart. It's absurd that a player with strong stamina becomes some sort of renegade who can successfully tune out his coach, just because his owner had the nerve to make his stamina better.
