with starter potential you may want to build an SF shape that evenly spreads skills inside/outside to 7-9 but consider avoiding those skill increases that add the most salary afterwards (particularly JR/JS). maybe a defensive SF with ID/OD more than offensive.

What is the soft cap on his salary? Is it as much as 30k or more like 20-25k? I like this plan and I got him for very cheap considering the well spread skills so I definitely want to train him.

@Fluff, thank you for your input. I agree that neglecting JR/JS is a good idea and building a defensive minded player is a great idea.

@Manon, I do have one other trainee. Unfortunately I was switching training regimens from big men to SF's and I didn't have a lot of money to work with. I'm hoping after this season to get a centerpiece trainee. I am currently training my 21yo PF in some guard skills with the other trainees to round him out. Here is another trainee, what do you think?

The main problem with this guy is the ID obviously. I like everything else. I play many teams that are JS oriented so I thought about training him up in OD. I also am a LI team so I was thinking about getting him some IS with my other trainee as well. I was thinking about 10 IS so that I have a decent scoring option at the SF spot in a LI offense. With his decent passing and driving already I figure that could help too.

Dont worry about the IS on SF,the only part of the game where is taken into consideration is when He gets an offensive rebound and try to score under the basket which isnt that often.Focus on shooting and Defs raise some SB and reb and youll be fine

for sf the salary cap are pretty much messed up, and i personally think the number are estimated to high anyway.

And yopur second dude needs serious training in ID, you could lack a weakness in an scoring option more then in an defensiv option because you could design/choose your offense so that it weakness don't matter that much but defensivly you had to play what the opponent wants.

With that in my you could get trouble with your trainees, if this one reach 9 in ID the other dudes is maybe a bid overpowered there especially because he cann't switch to PF because he had the rebounding problem. Maybe you could focus more on guard training at the beginning, and then sell your second trainees(i would push all guards skill to 8 which should have an good effect on his selling price)

I disagree here. Dunking SFs do occur in this game. Coupled with high Driving, an inside SF will need quite some IS.

That said, I disagree with the others a little with respect to JS. Sure, you shouldn't raise his JR as that gets very expensive very soon, but some JS will allow him to score from mid-range more often. You won't need it above prolific, but getting it to proficient/prominent will pay off.

I think I agree with your assessment. Atrocious may be too hard to rebound from, however he could be a more productive guard trainee. I think you are right that I am going to have to sell the trainee if I am going to train the SF...or vice versa so I think guard training is the smart thing to do.

I've seen a similar player, and he capped around 20-25k, if this helps.

Sell this trainee and get your first trainee to about 12 OD, in my opinion
