Other good pieces of evidence are the entire history of the Cardinals american football team (Chicago->St. Louis->Arizona), the Cinncinati Bengals under Mike Brown, much of the Boston Red Sox history (before current ownership) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (in fact, I seem to recall that their financial records were leaked sometime in the past few years, and it showed they are pretty profitable, despite spending little or money for on the field product.

At least this problem isn't in BB. BB owners who might tank and save money for a bit aren't doing it to make themselves rich. They're just gonna spend the money later.

If you wanted to curtail this, increasing the attendance penalty for continuous losses would help, as would slowing the return of the fand once winning returned, would help.

2. This is a legitimate tactic but why should they be penalised for it? They run the risk of being demoted if they do not spend that cash on players so its a risk-reward scenario annd also if they do not promote, they will have fewer cash reserves due to being in a lower league

Why is it a legitimate tactic?

Thats not how professional sports work and to me its just bad game design. No professional team would sit on millions and get kicked in the butt every week. The fans and players would rahter hang the management than allow such a scenario.

Really? The Pittsburgh Pirates (one of the worst MLB teams) made millions of dollars despide having a small salary.

Yes but in real life , money made by pro sports teams are used to do other things other than improve the team. In BB, every cent will be used at some point on their team. They won't giving that money to some random executive, charity organization, etc.

That is not what Cleveland wanted to do....They saved all their money to be able to sign Lebron back and by the time he left on July 1st all the Free agents had already signed with other teams...so they were left with their pants down and lots of cash...

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

Who was left in the free agent market? Joe Johnson had already signed, Bosh followed James and then there was no one left...
