he looks decent for an SF for you. Defence is terrible but everything else is pretty good. I actually prefer him as a SF rather than a SG because a SG with that OD will give up a lot of points. In a tactic such as LI he may be good because of shooting, driving, handling and IS. I would play him as a SF in your game

I was mentioning the age and height of the player in regards to a more long term view. The player is old, so what I see now is what I get. He's never going to get better, and there's no room for improvement to help patch the holes in his game. Obviously, as you said, height factors into that discussion as well. I'm fully aware it doesn't translate into in-game production.

Now this player is by no means good, but I'm in deperate need of finding ANYONE who can help me out at that position. This is also my first season in the game, so while his skills may be terrible to some of you, he's actually a decent player in my league. While watching games live, I notice that he rarely has his man score on him, and regularly leads my team in +/-. He's a good shotblocker... I don't know it was just a thought.

Thanks for the opinions.

From the looks of your PF and PA, your offense looks fine, but your defense is terrible. Adding this new guy into the starting 5 isn't gonna help that.

In US D.V, I've found guys with average defense to be decent, respectable defense to be good, and above that guys are even better (obviously). Last season most of my guys had 7 defense (and good secondary defense-i.e., good ID on guards, OD on bigmen). I was tied for the best defense. If you can buy a cheap guy with defense around those levels, it would probably work out better than this guy.

I've ended up grabbing this player, and plan on starting him tonight to see how he does. He's a little bit weaker offensively, but much stronger defensively and has much more long term upside. I don't need an all star at the position, I just need someone to not shoot 4-24 or 2-15 in two games.

Thanks for the help.

I like this guy a lot better. Give him a few weeks of One on One training, to bump up that atrocious handling, and he'll be a solid D.V player for you. And if you're not training anyone else, a bit of rebounding training would help too. Both of those should at least be helped by elastic effect, so hopefully won't take too long to raise, despite his in-betweener height.

take it easy or TIE doesn't make your defence better. It makes it worse, what makes it better is the enthusiasm that you get from the TIE

Tie makes you more foul prone too, so a good bench doesn't hurt.-

Why do you use TIE if it so bad anyway?
