I would definitely be concerned about his atrocious handling and passing, though -- that's a recipe for turnovers and bad shots being forced up because he can't get rid of it (and his driving being bad doesn't help there either).

With allstar potential he'll never be able to make either the U21 team or the NT, because he will cap before he can reach those levels.

Still, he can be a useful player for your team for many seasons. I agree with hrudey that his handling and passing need addressing as well as he needs the inside skills. You can train handling by doing 1v1 training, at the forwards position. That will actually increase JS, HA, DR, and IS. All useful skills.

Training passing is going to be trickier, as you'll have to play him at PG or SG. Now, I think that PA is incredibly useful on all players, but you'll have to decide if you can live with 1 passing, or try and improve his. Personally I think even a couple PA pops would be worth it, so that he's not a complete black hole if he gets the ball but only has a bad shot opportunity.

One suggestion is to go on the USA database, http://bb-usa.host22.com/, with your access code, and use the "training planner" to put in what you would like his final stats to be. That will calculate whether he has enough potential to reach those stats, and give you an estimate of his salary there. Just FYI, a guy with his outside skills, but 16 in IS/ID/RB has a predicted weekly salary of 136K, and requires at least superstar potential.

How do you use the training planner?

First, if you haven't already, set and access key under the "Preferences" -> "Create/Change Access Key"

Then, go to the bb-usa.host22.com, and log in using your Buzzerbeater username and your access key (not your buzzerbeater password).

Underneath the USA banner with the Eagle, there's a light blue strip with one option being "Team Tools"

Hover your mouse over that, and a drop down menu appears and choose the "Training Planner"

When you click that, it should bring you to a list of your players, followed by a series of drop down menus where you can change his skill value (choose "Synchronize Roster" if things don't match exactly, or you've added new players).

As you choose new skill values, two things are updated on the left. One is a column called "Est". That's the estimated salary of the player with those new skills. To the right of that is an unlabeled column. That is the potential cap value for the skills you entered, calculated using Josef Ka's current coefficients. To the right of that is a column which contains a value like "18-20". That represents the potential cap given the player's potential.

Hope that's helpful! Lemme know if anything goes wrong when you try playing with it.

That 18-20 represents the level where a Star potential player would cap, and stop improving even if you tried to train them.

The column to the left of that 18-20 example is what the skills entered in the training planner calculate as applying to the cap. So if you have a star potential player, and you enter a set of skills you want to try and reach with your training, that number has to be lower than the player's potential, or else you might cap the player before he reaches your target.

Ya I click on "training planner" and it just comes up with a box that I can type something in, a button that says "go" and the"synchronize" link. I have pressed both buttons but nothing happens. Am I supposed to put something in the box?

Do you see the list of your players?

Right underneath the line with the 'synchronize roster' there should be a line of small font type that says "Filtering: where Owner=XXXXX, click to start over". Does that XXXX number match your team number (in parentheses next to your team name at your team screen)?

Can you try and go to "My Roster" and then do "synchronize roster" there, and see if your players show up.

Can you try and go on the offsite chat too, I am there and maybe we could troubleshoot in closer to real time.
