Why wouldn't you just have say a set number of minutes that you can train per week say 144. Then a manager can assign 3 players to be trained for max minutes of 48 per week or more and train them less than max. This way a manager is not going to be hosed by playing minutes or putting his optimal line up on the court in order to train.

That is kind of part of the game. Having to manage things that are not entirely in your control. If everything could be planned out perfectly it would take away from the challenge and fun of the game.

Indeed, not everything can be perfectly planned.
No coach or manager goes into a game saying:
"Geoffrey is going to get 37 minutes today, Ferdinand will get 39 minutes, and Malcolm will only get 9 minutes. No Exceptions! It doesn't matter how crappy somebody is playing! I want them in there for this allotted amount of time! Who cares if they break their fibia? Tell him to suck it up and get back out there till his minutes are reached! Got it?

That's not realistic. Sometimes people complain about some things in BB game engine not being realistic, but this is something that is, and you want to take that away, Mr. Original Poster Guy. Nay, I say we praise the makers for this aspect of the game, for by it we may test our skills, show our worth, and prove our valor!

Lithuanian euroleague team Zalgiris owner (Vladimid Romanov) does exzactly that. He says: Kalnietis plays 3mins, goes bench for 4:30, then back to game at 1:30 remaining in first quarter, 2nd quarter he plays pg pozition 30 seconds, switches to sf for 2 minutes, then goes bench for 7minutes, comes back for 30 seconds as pg and so on. Thats realistic, sad but true situation. He pays wages, he dictates tactics. He even bought last seazon backup pg (A.Capin) only because his wife thought hes handsom. He probably worked out offcourt, cause he seemed exhausted during the games

I think in bb we could choose players, who clean up the mess if someone vormits during the game, i think we should be able to choose player, who cleans t-shirts and so on. WE PAY, WE SAY! (well i dont pay, but i have world rigt, right?:)

I can see both sides. It's often frustrating when you can't specifically control the minutes of your players for gameshape and training purposes. But at the same time, I'm not thrilled at the idea that you can be precise with it either. It would take most of the strategy with setting and planning lineups out of our hands and it would likely make gameshape far too easy to control.

Maybe a hybrid idea where you can choose the specific minutes for one and only one player every game?

Well if went with your idea, wouldn't setting one players minutes also affect everyone else's, or at least the players playing the same position? If you wanted your starting center to play 30 min for say, that would pretty much mean your backups going to play 18. I know it was justa suggestion, but it probably wouldn't work too well :)
