My understanding is that the existing players will always have the potential to be within the top 20% of the game.

My guess would be that players have a 20% chance, so to say, to get an All-Star or better potential at creation. Thereby, assigning 'All-Star' as the potential of existing players, one effectively puts them in the 'top 20%' of players.

However, due to the large amount of existing players, those top 20% will likely end up being more than 20% for starters, but will slowly be adjusted downwards. Unfortunately, there is probably no other way which is fair to everyone.

I am not sure where I stand on the issue, but this is surely a major change. One effect is that it will segment the market nicely: if you need a 12th man who should only provide a warm body in blowouts, you can buy a scrub without potential and be done with it.

One question. They didn't mention height weight anywhere, will we know that or not?

Weight doesn't exist in BB, and unless I've missed something it is not on the list for implementation. Did you mean height?

if i scout my draftee and find he is only bench warmer potential surely if i list him he wont come with that information??

i would hope not.

you would have to do your homework on him before deciding whether to buy.. i have paid for that information so why should everyone else get it for free?

i wouldve thought that its a case of buyer assumes the risk...

On the other hand, if you scout an All-Star and you plan to sell him, you would surely want the potential displayed, no? I am pretty sure potentials will be visible on the transfer market, and this is the proper way to do it.

I imagine one will be able to measure the player (i.e. see exact height) with a second scouting.

Though, it would be useful to have a range on the first scouting, for example: short (5'9-6'3), average(6'4-6'10), and tall (6'11-7'5). This is a reasonable approximation, and is a thing a scout can discern while watching a game.

After the last game of the season. I am not sure exactly when. But think Sunday-Monday.
