well PL wouldn't interfere with anyones training, and scrimmages could only be done with people out of the cup.

The idea behind the PL was more so that it had minimal effect on a user's normal game efforts. a bit like having really low salary players used, it has minimal impact on the actual league/training of the user's real team. I wouldnt ask people to give up their training minutes and GS management minutes during scrimages, just for research.

i did just think of something though - if you were constantly trading players to use - even if they are poor salary, it would effect the team's survey and % of sale for other players.
so it might have to be a 'constant lineup' for the length of the PL - which then managing GS becomes an issue. but I guess you would address that as it comes.

even if it was say, 4 teams. home and away - so thats 8 games. 8 weeks. say you had, 5 players to use, so thats roughly $10k-$15k per week salary. so worst case scenario $15k x 8 weeks = $120k plus purchase costs ($5k) = $125k)

so the initial outlay is nothing. and potentially might be using scrubs that people already have.

And so in season 1, rnd 1, all teams would play LI V 2-3 zone for example. With each team having a different level of player at each position. Team 1 might have everyone who is a forward have atrocious SB. Team 2, Inept, team 3, mediocre, Team 4 respectable.

and generally all other stats across the board would be the same. So essentially you would see the same kind of offence play against a slightly different defensive setup, based on SB.

Then just do the same LI V 2-3 zone for the away game, such that you can see how much of a factor HCA played in it.

and then for the remaining two rounds, you could play, LI V M2M. and see the results that come out of that.

im so just talking out loud here.

It is an interesting concept. Like you say PL would be better than scrimmages for most players as scrimmages are used for training minutes pretty heavily.

One thing I wonder about (and may be relevant to something like this) is this:

As a player moves up the levels in a certain statistic e.g. JR is it a consistent increase in ability. e.g. does someone with inept (4) have half the ability of some one with stong (8), and in turn does someone with strong have half the ability of someone with prodigious (16) or does the increase in skill slow per level?

e.g. is the skill difference between wondrous and marvelous the same as the difference between prodigious and stupendous?

I guess it wouldn't really matter either way in the situation you have brought up - in fact the differences may be greater on these lower level player skills...

very good point and ive thought of this myself.

your basically asking, is the increase linear?

I can only make the assumption that it is. Ratings appear to be linear, and in general, pops in a stat category appear to make a linear difference to a player. This would support sub-levels, etc etc..., BUT, the argument against this, would be that salary increase is not linear.

So perhaps its not? I dont believe anyone actually knows the answer to this.

I thougt how this would affect any PL where you have scrubs testing SB out - and how you could apply any general concepts across the board.

Say in the game where the SB on the players goes from Inept to Medicore, makes a MASSIVE difference. But maybe its a tipping point? Maybe once your defensive players hit a certain point, its just gets better and better exponentially.

SO yer, it could very much affect this. But i can only work on the assumption that its linear.

Exactly.

I guess it is a reasonable assumption to make as no-one other than the BB's would be able to tell you for sure.

yer.

but it could be couldnt it! :)

logically, that would actually go inline with salary increases.

however because the salary increases have been variable (and they have dropped significantly this season) - if salary was someone tightly coupled to the non-linear stat increase then i would imagine that these recent salary changes would also affect player performance.

but i dont think that is the case. so yer. assume its linear.
