Guard B is +1 experience and +3 stamina, but I figure the stamina should not effect who is chosen to start, just substitutions. If I'm wrong about that, maybe that's the explanation. Both have has the same game shape.

If I were you I would ignore the game engine and place Guard A in the starting point guard position.
His passing far surpasses that of guard B and is a very primary stat of a dominant PG.
You want your Point guard to run offenses and set up your other players, I haven't looked at both players stats but I assume Player A would average far more assists than Player B.

Game engine tends to prefer offense (JS/JR) over high passing and low JR, like player A. So the game engine will pick the best offensive player in this situation. It sees player B as better because he can actually score while still having decen passing. I think that's one reason they always told us to create balanced players because the GE prefers them over guys with special skillsets ( high passing and low shooting)
