Check the transfer list often right after the draft, and you'll sure find some fresh 18/19y players with good starting skills and solid potential, for cheap.

About potential, I would try to find a higher potential guy, because they sell better, but you can still train lower potentials. I pumped my allstar to 116 skills.

About height, it only matters for training speed, taller players train inside skills faster, and shorter players outside skills. It doesn't matter for in-game performance.

Damn, so if a 6'0'' player was shooting against a 6'10'' player from the outside OD is really the only factor that goes into whether or not the 6'0'' player misses?

That's a bit of a buzzkill, but good to know!

Well, the short guy will likely have good OD, and the tall guy will likely have good inside skills. You can train a tall guy to be a point guard, but that would be a waste of time.

However, you will soon realize that quality players have all around good skills. Whatever position you want to train your player for, you'll have to get his secondary skills up as well.

Thanks, I think I've been focusing too much on trying to bring up every category for these two players which has led to me changing training type every week.

I got the same advice from another member, so I think I'll go with the ID strategy for now and then take things from there...

It's funny you mention the arena building, as I was just reading those threads and decided sometime last week that building up my arena will be my goal for the next 1-2 seasons.

I just managed to turn a 200%+ return on a player who I acquired about a month ago and never really trained... Makes me wonder what some of the guys I have trained could go for in this market... So with that in mind I'm kind of tempted to strip down my team to the bare minimum and sell everyone other than a 2-3 trainees so I can jump-start my arena building (I've been pouring in whatever I can which only amounts to around $80k a week)...

Yes, market is volatile right now. If you can, make some profit :)

I say train them until they are 24-25...plus your fans will support the team more due the familiarity you would build up by keeping consistency amongst your roster...also...you can receive a nice payday if you choose to sell them in a few seasons...or can keep them as your starters while you focus on training rookies and younger players...also i believe in training players to their strengths while improving on their weaknesses...my two pieces of copper
