Yes, I really like the idea but as stated above, it's probably to hard to set the right regulations and not overwork the GMs in order to prevent cheating ...

What if each player was assigned a certain trade value based on age, salary, tsp and potential. For a trade to go through, the trade values of the players on both sides of the deal would have to be within 10%. Draft picks could also be given a certain trade value. To help prevent cheating, you can only trade with the same team just once per season. There would also be a trade history page, so a managers trades would be visible to everyone.

The good thing about this trade value system, is that since the BBs would design the trade value formula, they would in essence be determining what constitutes a fair trade so we wouldn't have to rely on simply on the users' judgement.

I've always thought trading would be a ridiculous proposition in this game due to what others have already mentioned with all the cheating that would happen, but with certain rules, it could make sense.

For instance:
- Only players with TSP's over 80 (so no scrubs are ever involved in trades)
- TSP's of players being traded must be within 5 points
- Ages of players being traded must be under 32 and within 3 years of each other
- You can do a two for one trade, but the two players must add up to 1.5X the TSP of the one player, and they also still must have TSP over 80, so you'd be able to trade two 80 TSP players for a 107 TSP player - it would be a sacrifice to do so, but to get a really awesome player for your team, you would still do it.

Look at the current evaluation of player's value and see how far we are from what you are proposing. Highly unlikely.

Could you please elaborate on this?

I can't see this happening, but perhaps a system like the following could work:
1) 2 managers agree about the players they want to exchange
2) they have to list all the players who are part of the trade on the TL within say 4 hours from each other
3) these players will have a mark of some kind to let people know their managers are trying to trade them. People will bid normally on all players (and they will buy them if the trade fails)
4) the managers in the trade cannot bid on the other manager's players with any of their teams
5) when all the auctions end, the result of the bidding needs to be screened by someone to make sure nobody submitted some significant raise out of the blue, to "prop up" the value of one of the traded players to make the values match
6) the manager who is short on values from his side, will have to automatically pay the difference in cash. If he can pay the trade automatically happens, if he can't we move to point 7)
7) 24 hours after the last bid the trade resolves: if one side fails to have bids on all the players he listed for the trade OR if one side can't gather enough cash to push the trade through OR if the review at point 5), which will have to be done in 24 hours, highlights some strange bid, then the trade fails and there is no exchange. In the last case, the suspicious bids will be reported to GMs and dealt with all the usual penalties.
8) if the trade fails, the managers can outbid the TL winning bid on their own players by 2% for a limited amount of time (say 30 minutes after the trade is resolved and failed). If they do not or they don't have the cash, then the winning bids from the auction 24h earlier will receive the players.

Guys, i think this is more simple than we think...

- 1 week delay to each trade (For GM's to check the trade)...
- Up to 3 players per 1 player. The trade is ok under GM's control...
- The teams can't sell the traded players until the end of season
- 1 trade per season to the same team
- trades are available until all star game

Also, weekly amounts like wage, could be given as trade
Draft pics, also could be good to trades...

Isn't that cheating though?

You sell me your player for 5 million, I sell you my player for 5 million. Nobody else bids because of the high price tag...
