From the manual, in as plain / direct language as you'd like:

"Career Extension: Older players will not experience skill drops as frequently."

Taping injuries = the speciality that affects injuries.

Since this is not really a thread that belongs in the bugs forum, I'll give an answer and then close.

The CE specialty actually prevents a certain percentage of skill drops. It does not affect the amount of the skill drops. So, teams with a CE specialty trainer lose skills more rarely than other teams.
