Yeah league leaders are usually from imbalanced teams or those that play too many minutes. I made peace with not having league leaders, instead focussing on game shape and other things while sacrificing counting stats. The 48/0/backup is a good way to let your players become league leaders, but you sacrifice performance in game 1 for that and you'll miss him in game 2 (assuming he's a good player since he is to be a league leader, not playing him in a league game will hurt your performance). Of course you can pick games where you do this so a little less performance won't affect outcome.
