I think most of the problem is that for a loooooong time people were building players to match the Look Inside offense. As such there is/was a glut of players available that fit that mould.
Keep building your players and if/when you complete them judge how the engine deals with them.
I myself have been struggling with building outside based teams and it just feels like teams have 2 defences that can severely limit outside offenses, should you exclusively play them. But in saying that I always start training my ultimate outside offence players and never really get around to finishing them off completely...they get to good but not great. Oh well maybe this iteration :)

I guess this is also valid for reality.
Except in reality when you step beyond the 3 point line it becomes good again as the shot is worth more. Now if inside shots have 50% FG% and 3 pointers have 35%, 3 pointers are actually a better shot, but if inside shots have a 45% FG% and outside 25% then not so much. In my opinion it boils down to go and check the code and make sure some stuff in the GE is rectified (such as defended vs open shots).This is the way to make micro changes to the GE. Making some long 2s count as 3s like Marin did when he 'moved' the 3pt line isn't going to cut it. And while he's at that, he could also fix those type of shots that have 0% chance to go in when the shot is unguarded.
